                Seattle at Memphis

Pau Gasol's return has not been able to snap the Grizzlies out of their six-game losing streak. Gasol is clearly trying to play himself back into shape as he has logged just 17 minutes in each of his first two games, while scoring a total of 15 points. Memphis lost both those games to Atlanta (at home) and Miami (on the road). Tonight the Grizzlies will face a Seattle team that has lost the first four games of their five-game road trip. But the Sonics did give Detroit a handful yesterday (98-94) with Rashard Lewis (25 points) and Chris Wilcox (21 points) playing well. The Vegas line favoring Memphis (-5) looks too high according to Dunkel, which has Seattle favored straight up by 1 1/2. Dunkel Pick: Seattle (+5). Here are all of today's games.

                    Detroit at Columbus
The Blue Jackets have cooled off a bit since having their five-game winning streak snapped. Columbus followed up a 5-4 shootout loss to Phoenix on Thursday with a 2-1 loss to the Blackhawks yesterday. But the Blue Jackets were in each game down to the end showing that they have not completely reverted back to the form that allowed them to win only five of their first 21 games. Tonight Columbus will face a Detroit team riding a four-game road winning streak. A though challenge, but the Jackets still look worth the pick as a home underdog according to Dunkel, which has Columbus favored straight up by 1/2 a goal. Dunkel Pick: Columbus (+1 1/2). Here are all of today's games.

                            Six-Pack for Monday

                            Observations on Saturday's Denver-Knicks' fracas

Nuggets had three starters on court with 1:15 left in game they led by 20, and had just done 180 dunk, so Knicks had it in mind that Denver was showing them up.

Nugget coach Karl is good friends with evil Larry Brown, whose name never seems to go away. Thomas had harsh words for Karl in Orlando this summer, so tensions between the two are high anyway.

The Knicks are routinely terrible at home, but word was that Coach Thomas wasn't pleased, and had warned that Carmelo Anthony had better not venture into the lane for the rest of the game. Did Isiah suggest the flagrant foul?

There is no rule against not pulling your starters, but why would you risk injury during such a long season?

Brawl will hurt Denver, a playoff contender, way more in the long run, since Knicks are going nowhere anyway, so any suspensions will just hasten Isiah's imminent firing.

What will league do with Anthony, one of league's best players? His suspension will be the most visible.

                              Monday's List of 13:

                              Wrapping up a sports Sunday

                              13) JD Drew will undergo another shoulder exam Monday, as the original test on his shoulder showed something Boston's doctors are concerned about. His contract isn't final yet, so now that Boras client Matsuzaka is signed, maybe another Boras client is going to take a financial hit.

                              12) Oh by the way, if you like omens, Mr Matsuzaka signed up with the Red Sox on Bill Buckner's 57th birthday.

                              11) Titans had five first downs and three defensive TDs in an upset win over Jacksonville, Tennessee's fifth win in a row.

                              10) Why would an NFL defensive lineman named Tank need a bodyguard? I'm just wondering here.......

                              9) Don't look now, but Steelers won their last three games by a combined margin of 84-13, and are back to .500 at 7-7.

                              8) Houston Texans passed on both Young and Bush; their feature back right now is Ron Dayne. Patriots started seven drives in Houston territory Sunday. Someone has an awful lot of explaining to do.

                              7) Buccaneers scored 31 in Chicago and lost? Tim Rattay is the best QB Tampa has, but he still hasn't started this season which makes you wonder what Jon Gruden is thinking.

                              6) Chargers were winning 14-3 last night, and Philip Rivers is tossing his helmet around like he's on five-game skid. In my mind, a QB has to be the coolest guy on the team, not a guy who has to counseled by his backups on the sidelines.

                              5) That Andy Reid is some coach. Who would have possibly thought that Jeff Garcia could be their savior?

                              4) Only consistent NFL teams are Lions and Raiders, waging a spirited battle for the #1 pick in the draft. Oakland made a subpar Ram defense look like the '85 Bears Sunday.

                              3) You know I watch too much TV when I know that ESPN poker announcer Lon McEachern went to college at UCSB

                              2) Nothing says Christmas like cheerleaders in Santa outfits.

                              1) Almost an epic collapse by Wizards Sunday, who blew big lead in fourth quarter, then held off Lakers in OT, as Gilbert Arenas went for a franchise-high 60 points. Who designed the Washington road uniforms? Gold jerseys, black shorts?
