This game, available at virtually all offshore books, is for the Division III championship and will be televised live on ESPN Saturday afternoon. I received a fair amount of grief a couple of years ago when I made a Game Of The Year play on the over in the Pro Bowl. But I believe some of these more obscure games present the greatest opportunites because the linemakers don't have as much knowledge as some others (as opposed to high profile games where the lines are very sharp).
Both teams are unbeaten and Mount Union is the small favorite based solely on reputation as Mount Union has been the dominant Division III program for a decade and won the title last year against this same Whitewater team. But this year is different:
1) Whitewater has crushed most opponents;
2) Whitewater twice beat Wisconsin-La Crosse, a school that won ON THE ROAD against a strong Division 1-AA team (Div III schools never ever do that)
3) Whitewater is a veteran team with more experience than last year;
4) Whitewater's coach announced earlier in the year that he is retiring at the end of the season. His team has a chance to send him out with a title in his final gama, ala Al McGuire;
5) Whitewater's offense has been unstoppable all year;
6) Whitewater's QB has thrown 36 touchdown passes with only six interceptions and has a quarterback rating of---get this---154;
7) Whitewater's star RB has been out much of the year but returned three weeks ago and both his backups gained over 1000 yards;
8) Whitewater is good enough that it might have been favored to win the Division II championship.
Consider all of the above factors or not, I believe there is a very flawed line to exploit here.
