    FRIDAY, DECEMBER 15

    Massachusetts vs. Appalachian State
Defending champion Appalachian State has rolled through the Division I-AA playoff by putting up big numbers against Coastal Carolina, Montana State and Youngstown State. Combined the Mountaineers have outscored their three opponents by 132-69 behind the strong play of QB Armanti Edwards. But Appalachian has not been tested on the road during the postseason, something Massachusetts excelled at last week in a 19-17 win at Montana. Close games are another thing the Minutemen are familiar with as five of their last seven games have been decided by a TD or less (all wins). That experience should help UMass take advantage of the Vegas line (+3 1/2) according to Dunkel, which has Appalachian State favored by 3. Dunkel Pick: Massachusetts (+3 1/2). Here are all of this year's postseason games.

      THURSDAY, DECEMBER 14

      San Francisco at Seattle
The Seahawks look to win their third straight NFC West title tonight. Seattle missed an opportunity last week against a suddenly hot Cardinals' team. But they don't look to have that problem against the sliding 49ers. Back on November 19, San Francisco beat Seattle (20-14) to get to .500 and into the playoff race. However success didn't rest easy on Mike Nolan's team and the Niners have since lost three straight, including at home to lower-rated Green Bay (30-19) last week. With both Matt Hasselbeck and Shaun Alexander healthy again, the Seahawks look like a good pick to cover the Vegas line (-9 1/2) in this one according to Dunkel, which has Seattle favored by 12. Dunkel Pick: Seattle (-9 1/2). Here are all of this week's games.

        Orlando at Charlotte
After one of the best starts in the team's history, Orlando is starting to give a lot of it back. The Magic have lost four of their last five, including last night's 91-84 loss to lower-rated Toronto at home. Injuries have taken some of the steam out of Brian Hill's club as Jameer Nelson (strained groin) and Hedo Turkoglu (ankle) missed last night's game while Grant Hill left after just 19 minutes with tendinitis in his knee. Hill has been ruled out of tonight's game. The Bobcats lost their fourth straight and sixth in their last seven last night in Cleveland (104-101). But Charlotte showed some fight by cutting a 13-point halftime deficit to two with just 1:12 to play. Against a slumping Magic team, the Bobcats look to have a good shot at taking advantage of the Vegas line (+3 1/2) according to Dunkel, which has the game even. Dunkel Pick: Charlotte (+3 1/2). Here are all of today's games.

          Chattanooga at College of Charleston
Bobby Cremins' return to the coaching ranks hasn't been an easy one as his College of Charleston Cougars have struggled to a 3-6 start. Charleston comes into tonight's contest having lost four straight, including a pair to lower-rated Charleston Southern (84-80) on the road and Appalachian State (68-57) at home. Chattanooga hasn't faired much better (4-4) with only two wins over Division I-A schools. But included in the losses are a pair of one-pointers to East Tennessee St. (71-70) and Towson (56-55). The Vegas line favoring the Cougars by 8 1/2 looks too high in this one according to Dunkel, which has Charleston favored by 2. Dunkel Pick: Chattanooga (+8 1/2). Here are all of today's games.

            NY Rangers at Dallas
The Rangers haven't beaten the Stars on the road in nearly 10 years, but they come into this contest with a season-high four-game winning streak. After giving up seven goals in a loss to the Islanders on the 3rd, New York has stepped it up defensively and given up only five goals during the streak. Dallas, meanwhile, has dropped two straight at American Airlines Center, including a 3-1 loss to streaking Columbus on Tuesday. Facing another hot team, the Stars do not look like a solid favorite in this one according to Dunkel, which has the Rangers favored straight up by 1. Dunkel Pick: NY Rangers (+1 1/2).

                    SAN FRAN VS SEATTLE

                    THURSDAY NIGHT NFL

49ers (5-8) @ Seahawks (8-5)- Seattle clinchés weak NFC West with win over 49er squad that beat Seattle 20-14 four weeks ago (+3) on Candlestick Point, running ball for 262 yards and forcing five turnovers. 49ers haven't won since then, losing three in row by 3,24,11 points, getting outscored 41-16 in first half of those games. Niners went 3/out on 14 of last 24 drives. Seattle is 5-1 at home this year (4-2 as home fave); this is the fourth time in five weeks they've faced QB in first or second season. Nine of last eleven Seahawk games went over the total.
