I heard something on the radio last night that I can't really explain and If I had more time I would try to. But it makes me understand a little more now why it will never happen.


It has to do with acedemics. Thease kids still have to get an education and withh a playoff system they won't get it.

YES- All other divisions do it.

BUT- They don't have to study game film and break down games as hard as D-1 students do. There would be more pressure on the kids then they should have.

I am pro playoff system. I believe in at least a +1 system.

There only seems to be controvery over the top 3 every year.

But wouldnt the playoff scernario bring back the same problem? What if 2/3/4, etc... teams are fighting for 4th place. All with same records, etc...Its just gonna go back to the same voting system. Back to the drawing boards

Maybe academics is one small premise in the argument against a playoff system. And that's the one I'm sure that university presidents would like to spin. But it's all about the money, I think. There would be a lot of universities that would lose a lot of revenue that's generated for schools by the current bowl system. $$$ is the main reason the D-1 playoff system will never happen.

Nobody said get rid of the other bowls. They could still have them. I mean for what it is worth they are not worth anything as of right now so what would it change

So you can throw that academics shit out the window. Maybe money I will believe that one. USC deserves no shot at anything in my opionon. Beaten twice by unranked teams doesnt even deserve the Rose Bowl. LSU or Louisville deserve that shot. IMO

Obviously you would use BCS 1-4, when reading and typing this quickly be4 work this morning I assumed USC was 4th in the BCS with out looking at it (sorry don't have it memorized).

I was just using an example.

They already added an extra bowl game to accomadate the BCS championship, so why wouldn't they rotate which would get the 1-4 game and 2-3 game. They added the BCS game b/c the rose bowl wanted out of the BCS.

PS. I am not a USC fan, they were the 1 school I didn't want there.

The BCS actually isn't bad, You got the Top 2 teams fighting it out rather than 2 schools not even playing each other.

After thinking about it a Playoff would create problems b/c rather than 1 school (usually u only seems to be 1 left out) you might have more schools bitching they didn't get in.
