Hi all,
I don't speak up too much with picks, but I will be all over Temple tomorrow. I live in the Cincy area so I get all the games on the local TV. This team is VERY raw. Tons and tons of turnovers and awful defensive fundamentals. They only have 2 returning guys from last year on the whole team, and only 1 of them, Cedric McGowen, saw significant time. Now they have assembled a crew of freshman and JUCOs. They have a very good freshman guard, Deontey Vaughn, and a decent Juco in John Williamson. That being said, I think Temple lays the wood to them tomorrow. This will be their first game away from Fifth Third Arena this season. These kids were used to going on the road and having a couple dozen people in attendance. Now they will be playing a big-time program in Atlantic City. I know this isn't at Temple's gym, but I think that is providing line value here. Temple's 3 best players are a Soph, Jr. and Sr. They are pretty young team but have already had two games away from home. Cincinnati also got beat at home by the very same Wofford team that is 15-25 point dogs against everyone else. They basically killed Cincinnati from the outside b/c of their awful man to man defense. They switched to the zone for about 5 minutes, got lit up there too, and went back to man. Temple is shooting 41% from 3 on the year, a very good number. Lastly, Cincinnati hasn't played against a zone defense yet for the majority of a game, which Temple will display. A zone offense is the hardest one to run when you haven't been playing with your teammates for a long period of time. I think they will be confused, make alot of turnovers, and shoot bad (other than Vaughn).
Good luck if you follow! Feel free to ask any more questions about Cincy if you'd like.
