last 43 comps takes the over 9.5 kc royals

    MLB Baseball
    3 Units on Kansas City Royals O 9½ -110 (Ru Hernandez - R, Garland - R)

Kansas City was the beneficiary of a superb debut from Jimmy Gobble yesterday (Animal premium winner on the Royals), but great pitching and the Royals aren’t exactly synonymous. Prior to Sunday and since July 20th, KC pitching had allowed 88 runs in 13 games. 32 of those 88 were scored by the White Sox at Kansas City last week. Runelvys Hernandez was obliterated by the Chicago bats last Wednesday allowing six earned runs and seven hits in just 2 2/3rd innings. Each of the past four Hernandez starts has gone ‘OVER’ the posted total. Familiarity should also assist the KC sticks tonight as they faced John Garland last week as well. Plus Mike Sweeney comes off the disabled list to bolster the Kansas City attack. The Royals had a string of five consecutive ‘OVERS’ snapped on Sunday. The KC bullpen ERA of 5.54 probably won’t slow the Chicago offense tonight. The White Sox enter Monday having exceeded Vegas run expectations in nine consecutive games. Last week in Missouri these two teams scored 14, 19, and 15 runs in the three-game set. Since ’97, Hernandez has an ERA of 5.48 against the White Sox. The Royals have scored 19 runs in their last three games against Garland, who has served up 19 home runs this season. I wouldn’t classify either Hernandez or Garland as a power pitcher. After being plowed under by Ryan Franklin and Gil Meche the last two days, I suspect the White Sox will be firing on all cylinders tonight offensively. In their last three-game series at home they scored 22 runs in three games at the expense of Tampa Bay pitching. Chicago is 7-0 ‘OVER’ the last three years if they have won 15 or more of their last 20 games. KC is 16-6 ‘OVER’ after five or more consecutive home games this year. The Royals are 5-1 ‘OVER’ with Hernandez the last three years if the opponent averages 1.25 home runs or more per game. I’ll go ‘OVER’ tonight in Chicago.
