If they have him and Ortiz and Manny hitting over .300, that can be a very good 1-4, 1-5(with varitek 5). That would mean there is going to be somebody on base almost half the time Ortiz is hitting and a good portion of the time for Manny and Varitek.
As far as trading Manny for Sexson and Beltre, that is just stupid. Beltre had a few solid years, but something seems messed up in his head. Youkilis needs time to develop and will be a solid first baseman. He might not show the power of a Sexson, but he will be solid.
Honestly, I can definately see the Penny trade going through only with someone like Russell Martin thrown in as well, and the Dodgers wont do that. The Red Sox want to get younger like the Yankees and it starts with Manny. He can bring in a few young players.
Why not Manny for Carl Crawford and Scott Kazmir. Maybe even to Washington for Zimmerman and Chad Cordero and possibly John Patterson if they can pull that off.
I wouldnt mind either trade because for the other team it will bring people to the park knowing Manny Ramirez will be there. More Devil Ray jerseys with Ramirez on the back will sell than Crawford.
Those would be key young players who are not full of themselves just yet that Boston could add and use. Maybe even a Manny for Chone Figgins and Ervin Santana trade could be possible. Who knows.
$10 they dont trade Manny.
