                  Free Wunderdog Pick

                  FRUM THE WUNDERDOG...

We got another winning day yesterday in college hoops going 2-1. We're now hitting 68% on the college hardwood over the past week and a half (15 wins to 7 losses). Today we have five picks in the afternoon/night games (first game starting at 4PM eastern).

Game: Nebraska at Rutgers (4:00 PM Eastern)
                  Pick: Nebraska -5.5

Rutgers has had so much success with their football program this year that the basketball programs woes are sliding under the radar. This is the worst Rutgers team in a long time. Quincy Douby left after his JR, year and took with him 25.4 ppg and a bit of everything else. he didn't just mean scoring, he was single handedly responsible for last year's 19 win season. The fact is the recruiting was horrible, the returning players have not improved, and this program is way down this year. Anthony Farmer was projected to be a big scorer this year after 8.3 ppg and 3.9 assists last year, but he has fallen to 7 ppg and just 2.7 assists. Marquis Webb the leading returning scorer at 9.5 ppg is down to 7.5 ppg. Douby was the only double digit scorer on this team, and what was left behind has not upgraded their games a bit. This team is shooting a woeful 36% from the field, and a pathetic 26.6% from three. What is even worse they have 49 assists in 6 games, to 87 turnovers, one of the worst ratios we have ever seen. Byran Joynes was a key rebounder last year at 6.5 a game, but he has not played a game yet because of a foot injury. Last year he missed time with a bad shoulder. They must face a Nebraska team that is 5-0, beat Creighton by double digits, is #13 in the nation in FG% defense at 35.2, and no one has shot better than 37.5% against them. They are also the #3 offensive FG% team at 54.7%. This line is being held down by the stigma of "THE RAC". Rutgers always plays tough in the RAC, but you have to have a few players that can shoot, and defend, and the teams that built that reputation were light years talentwise ahead of this team. Kansas State already came in here and won by double digits, and Rutgers shot 19%! Jackson State already has won here this year. We will gladly give the points here, and look for Nebraska by double digits.
