  • Duke/Ind thought

I see a lot of people on Ind tonight, and I will probably follow (beacause I am a sheep). But the game scares me a little. I know everyone is saying that Duke is overrated, and I'm not arguing that. I just remember watching this ACC/Big Ten challenge the past couple of years, and I also remember telling myself to remember this for the next year for gambling purposes: "The ACC always kicks the Big Ten's ass."

Even the unranked teams in the ACC seem to be more talented and athletic than any team in the Big Ten (except maybe Ohio St. this year). Look at N.C. St and Mich last night....a lot of people on Mich (not the Kapt though....congrats). NCST is down this year, and they lose their starting senior point guard 2 mins into the game, and they still win! The few years they have been doing this tourney, the ACC has time and time again proven the gap in talent and playing style in the 2 conferences. Just some thoughts and observations on my part. I'd welcome any input or agreements/disagreements.....

Kelvin Sampson plays an ugly style of basketball and preaches defense. The tempo shouldn't be up and down like Duke usually likes to play. I don't think Duke has anyone to contain D.J. White underneath for the Hoosiers. They only way Duke covers this big number is if White gets in foul trouble in my opinion. I think it's a low scoring game and a lot of half court offense being ran. I'll take the points in this one.

I'm not a fan of Duke either, I certainly don't think they are a top 10 team.
Buuuuuuuttt, Indiana is a disaster. Watching them play makes me sick. They have a guy inside who should be an All-American, but they are poorly coached and go away from him in stretches. They have guards who are clueless when it comes to shot selection. They will get rattled, turn it over, and commit stupid fouls. I don't believe Indiana has played on the road, but even if they have, they aren't prepared for this environment.
I think KB's point about the half court game is well taken, I just don't think it develops that way because Sampson doesn't understand what he's doing (worst hire in major college athletics in recent years, IMO). I'm not laying this number, but there is no way I could take the points.

Good luck guys, whoever you're on.

Nice job kb. Really well thought out, and it played out almost exactly like you said.
