I've always just kept my record in my posts. After the football season ends, I'll update all the records I have and throw em in that forum.

I update mine every day that I have some plays. I find that if you keep on top of it daily it takes merely seconds to update, instead of waiting and having to compile many many days of of plays.
                    It's always noon somewhere!

I hope no one is foolish enough to coattail anyone unless one of the following is true:

                      a) they keep an accurate, up-to-date record, or

                      b) they provide a write-up with each selection that convinces you that there is solid analysis behind the play.

Otherwise, you are foolish to follow, IMO.

By the way, the guys that post everyday would keep a record if they were winning. Otherwise, it is too painful.

I posted a record in that forum and kept it up-to-date for awhile. Then my thread just disappeared from the forum. And I never bothered to revive it...not that it would have mattered much. I've pretty much sucked since the spring.

                          I agree!!!!!!!!!!!

I also suck at plenty of sports and still post that "Painful" record! It isn't easy writing that i'm down 150 units in the NFL but i do it anyway. You just never know though because i was down 200 units at one point but i have done very well the last 2 weeks but ..... most people see the record and don't realize you are actually on a good streak.

You are 110% correct though. People will STOP posting a record when it goes bad and i have seen that happen 1000 times here. They are afraid nobody will follow and they are embarrassed to post a horrible record ... OR ....... They fudge their numbers here and there a little each day to keep it looking good. I've seen that 1000 times here too and it's funny 'cause nobody EVER forgets a win in their record but they always seem to skip some losses.

I'm also not talking about everyone either. Many do a great job keeping their records but i could quickly name 20 people who don't ... and i know that from emails and tracking it myself. It's not just a "Mistake" when losses are ignored in the record every day or every other or even twice a week. I've kept a record in 20 sports here for YEARS and it's NOT THAT HARD. People will tell you it is or they don't have time but that's bush league when they are here 20 times a day.

good post....i really could care less what my record is....to me it's not hard to post a losing record....it's the internet what is the point of fudging your record? if i have a shitty record i have a shitty record....i think people should be questioned more often if someone is fudging there record....if my record was wrong i would want someone to tell me because i wouldnt do it on purpose...i find it easy to keep it updated if i do it every night.

I don't usually post analyses for the following reason(s):

                              1) I handicap the crap out of many games, and my method of capping includes utilizing many sources, so many that to mention all of them would be time and space prohibitive.

                              2) My plays are often a consensus of the many sources, trends, and yes, tails or fades of hot or cold cappers whom I respect or don't respect.

                              3) Many of the facts and trends that I use are beaten to death in so many posts, that it is repetitive to cite the same details.

                              4) I can assure everyone that I am not flipping a coin, or throwing a dart, or pullinng a name from a hat, when I make a selection. Just because there is no qualified list of reasons given does not necessarily mean the same amount of work has not been done to arrive at the play.

                              5) Because I read many posts at many sites, and post at a few as well. suffice it so say the plays are at least very well-educated informed guesses.

I DO post my record in every post, to detail where I am hot AND where I am cold, but advise against anyone blindly following or fading anyone, without monitoring for awhile.

Most posters here are legit, IMO, and there will be frauds everywhere. But it is pure laziness to tail or fade without doing some homework, either on the game, or the capper .

In short, this "science" is not done with any one particular method, but rather a gathering of data and forming a conclusion.
You can't always get what you want, but if you try some time, you might find, you get what you need.
