The Oilers come in having won four straight, including back-to-back wins over Detroit (4-3) and Calgary (2-1). Goalie Dwayne Roloson has been hot with wins in his last five starts and a 1.58 GAA over that span. The Blackhawks are on an extended road trip thanks the the circus occupying the United Center. In this annual sojourn, Chicago has only four wins in 27 games over the last four seasons. This looks like it should be four in 28 according to Dunkel, which has the Oilers favored by 2 1/2. Minnesota took 31 3's Thursday, only two foul shots in 63-56 loss to Marist; they scored 59.5 ppg in losing last two games. Southern Illinois has all five starters back from 22-11 team- they lost in OT to athletic Arkansas team yesterday. Minnesota isn't so athletic.

Western Michigan won its last two games after losing its first two; MAC teams are 13-19 against spread this season. West Va has five new starters this year; they allowed 47 ppg in winning first three games. Mountaineers shot 10-23 from arc Thursday. Broncos played ten guys double digit minutes Thursday.

Montana has new coach, lost two of top three scorers and is 0-3 already this season, giving up 74.3 ppg in losses at Utah Valley St (74-57) Wyoming (76-71) and 73-56 to WVa Thursday. Big Sky teams are 14-10 vs spread. Virginia Tech has high hopes but they took lousy shots down stretch in yesterday's loss.

Wisconsin has four starters back from LY; they're 4-0 already, with all four wins by 12+ pts. Missouri State is 3-0, with no win by less than 13; they also have four starters back. Big 11 clubs are 20-15 against spread this season. MVC teams are 12-9.

Oklahoma State has top eight scorers back from LY; they are 5-0 this season, with four wins by 16+pts, but this is first away game for OSU. Auburn is small but quick; they won first three games this season, scoring 80 ppg. SEC dogs are 3-6 vs spread.

Hofstra is 0-3 so far, losing 88-82 at Charlotte, 80-79 to Hawai'i Thursday and in OT at Manhattan; they have good guards, but are losing tight games. Marshall lost 72-70 to Cal Thursday as a 13-point dog. C-USA teams are 15-9 against the spread.

Pacific barely survived UMKC in first round 71-70; their last two games were decided by total of five points. LMU is 4-1 this year; they scored 68+ in its four wins, was held to 37 in loss at Miss State. Big West teams are 15-7 against the spread.

Hawai'i outscored Hofstra 26-12 from foul line Thursday; they won last three games after loss at UNLV. Cal shot 44% on 3's in Thursday's win, only 27% inside arc, as they miss Powe inside. Pac-10 teams are 16-20 vs spread so far this season.
