Greetings all- I am not one to post any plays here on BC, 1) because I stink 2) because I don't want to feel responsible for lost money by anybody else but myself.

I'm not gonna start posting now, but I am from Hawaii, and there have been some interesting remarks made by the coach at Purdue, that I think they have merit when considering a play on the game. Please read on-

Purdue football coach Joe Tiller said he twice tried to talk his athletic director out of Saturday's contracted game with the University of Hawai'i and said he still sees it as a "value-less game" for the Boilermakers.
Tiller, whose 8-4 and Champs Bowl-bound team arrives today, bemoaned the 13-hour trip, a 13th regular-season game, the players' time away from their families on Thanksgiving, the humidity, the fact the school said it will lose money on the game and that this is the Warriors' best team.
Asked on a media conference call yesterday what the pluses of playing the game might be, Tiller said, "I'm still looking for 'em. If you know of any, let me know, will ya?"
Tiller said, "I don't know the motivation for it. The game, in my opinion, would have been more palatable if we had an 11-game season instead of a 12-game season. It would have been more palatable if we would have been like Notre Dame and had a bye in the fifth week of the season. It would have been more palatable if there was a big pay day at the end of the rainbow, so to speak. This may end up being a net-dollar loss, because I don't know if all the expenses are covered."
Athletic director Morgan Burke said there would be a $40,000 loss.
After Northwestern and Michigan State lost games to UH at Aloha Stadium in 2004, Tiller said their coaches, "talked about it to all the other coaches (in the Big Ten) and their advice to every coach in that room was, 'Do not go there and play.' Michigan State's game was unbelievable. They had two touchdowns called back. They would have won the game going away. And they needed that game to become bowl eligible."
Since then, the Big Ten has requested and gotten Pac-10 officials.
Tiller said Purdue's game with UH was originally contracted in 1994 and when he arrived at West Lafayette, Ind. in 1997, "I told Morgan Burke that we didn't want to play that game. And that was when we had an 11-game schedule. So, it got pushed back. I told him again, as late as last winter, that we shouldn't be playing this game. Of course, by then the 12th game had been added. He asked what we should do and I told him to call them (UH) up and tell them, 'We're not coming. We're just not coming. Go find another opponent.' "
Tiller said he would not be in favor of playing UH again, even on a home-and-home arrangement. "No. If I were a West Coast coach, I would. But not here. It wouldn't be fair to bring the University of Hawai'i team here (to West Lafayette, Ind.). It's a 9-1/2 hour flight. We're going to leave at 6 a.m. to bus to Chicago O'Hare for the flight. So, for about 13 hours, these guys are going to be traveling and we have a very tired football team right now. We practiced last night and it was like practicing in slow motion. But, because of the schedule, we really had no option."
Tiller said, "we're going to make some sacrifices to go play this game and we're going to play against a team that we won't see the likes of offensively maybe ever again."

I think the remarks of the coach will have a profound impact on his team and the way they play. It truly feels like they could care less, and are going to treat the game as such.

The team is staying in Waikiki, and like many teams that do not visit Hawaii regularly, will look to this trip as a "vacation" and will have less focus on the game.

From Hawaii's side of the situation, they are riding an all time high within the program. They are ranked 25th in the nation, have an 8 game winning streak, QB Colt Brennan is a finalist for the Davey O'Brien award for the top QB in the country, along with Troy Smith and Brady Quin, and the defense under Jerry Glanville is playing its best football in coach June Jones tenure.

Maybe I'm just getting caught up in the hype, but I plan to make this my biggest play of the year. I am a $100 player, so that's not saying much, but I will be laying $500 on Hawaii at -17.

I'm not posting this as a "pick" for you all to follow, I just thought that you might be interested in the info that we have here in the islands.

Anyway, enough of my crap- good luck to all no matter which way you go, and I wish you all a Happy Thanksgiving!!

I see a blow out also, Hawaii's defense is actually the difference to me- they play extremely hard and are ticked off about the coaches comments

I have a big play on Hawaii and have had this game circled for weeks.

            There's more:

Purdue accepted a bowl bid Tuesday and two of its players were suspended after an altercation Monday.

            Hawaii kills them.

              What?

Tiller is a lot like Lou Holz at times- saying no chance and how great his opponent is. PU is not great defensively , but is getting better as season goes on. BUT Hawaii will NOT stop PU's offense either and I look for a high scoring close game. PU will play loose and flashy on offense and have fun and them getting 17 pts is a joke, trust me. PU 45- Hawaii 35 FINAL

              bank it!

                  Plandbill,

Purdue gave up 505 yards to Indiana last week AT PURDUE. Hawaii's offense is many times better than Indiana. Hawaii will score at least 55 in this game, in my opinion.

                    Yea and

55 pts will not be enough for Rainbows to cover as PU puts up at least 40

they have put up more than 40 in only two games this season, against Indiana State and Illinois. I respect you opinion, but Hawaii is much better than they are given credit for, especialy on defense.

                          Big 10

Hawaii would finish 5-7th place in the Big 10 IMHO

Don't mean to argue but I believe PU plus 17 is a very good bet

I'm a Hawaii fan, born and raised here and been a die-hard fan forever..... seeing as this is the only game in town. This is easily the best offensive team we've ever seen here..... they are absolutely in sync and would give any team in the Top 25 some problems. The defense is coming around and really showing their stuff..... they're making the plays that count and forcing TO's.

Yes, the WAC is not a powerhouse BCS conference. But even you'd have to admit that this is not the BIG 10's best year. Outside of OSU, Michigan and Wisconsin, the remainder of the teams are merely average at best. And who has Indiana played? Outside of ND and Wisconsin (both losses) I see wins over poor BIG 10 teams and MAC teams.

I dunno..... maybe I'm a homer, but I don't think Purdue has what it takes to hang with UH. Hawaii rolls big......
