Giants (6-3) @ Jaguars (5-4)-Coughlin returns to franchise he built from ground up; his Giants have severe injury problems on defense, but had also won five games in row before last week's implosion vs. Bears. Jaguars scored 13 or less pts in three of last four games (two TDs on last 32 drives); their defense has allowed total of 26 pts in last three games. Jags are 4-1 at home, posting two shutouts. Giants allowed 26,42,38 pts in their three losses, an average of 12.7 in wins. Three of last four Jaguar games stayed under the total. We'll update this figure before Monday night, but AFC has been dominating NFC of late.

-- Middle Tennessee lost to Alabama by 9, then lost in OT next game vs Toledo. Charleston lost by 13 to Villanova, then lost by 12 to VCU. Sun Belt road teams are 13-16 against spread.
-- Toledo beat MTSU in OT, after 78-65 loss to Iowa on Friday. VCU lost 70-67 to Xavier, then beat Charleston by 12; Rams have new coach trying to play faster. Toledo has nucleus of strong team back this season.
-- Alabama struggled with Middle Tennessee Friday, but beat Iowa pretty good Sunday. Xavier has all five starters back from 21-11 team; they beat VCU, Villanova in first two games. Might as well be a first or second-round NCAA game.
-- Iowa lost four of top six scorers; they beat Toledo, but lost to Alabama Sunday. Villanova has more balanace after playing four guards much of last season; they lost to Xavier after win vs Charleston Friday. .


-- Air Force might become America's team in March, they're that good, already winning by 34 at Stanford, by 38 at Colorado. The oddsmaker has them only +6 vs Duke on neutral floor, quite the compliment. This is their fourth game in seven nights, and big stepup in class, for both teams.
-- Texas Tech struggled to beat North Dakota State in last game, while Marquette needed OT beat Idaho State at home, so flaws for both teams early on. Both sides have eight of top 10 scorers back from last season.

-- Memphis lost top three scorers to NBA, but they're loaded in young talent; they won opener 111-69 vs Jackson St. Oklahoma lost its coach and three of top four scorers; they pounded on two cupcakes, now move way up in class.
-- Purdue has six of top eight scorers back, and won their first 2 games of season vs stiffs, but Boilers were 0-12 on road a year ago, and their best recruits are still a year away. Georgia Tech is loaded with top seven scorers back, but they had longest trip to get to paradise.
-- Kentucky struggled with Miami, OH, then beat Mississippi Valley by 23, but they lost four of top sox scorers from last year. DePaul lost badly at Bradley and Northwestern, then beat up on Eastern Illinois in last game.

-- UT-Martin beat Arkansas State at home LY, 80-77 (+1.5); they lost last three games, by 38,5,10 pts,with only win vs High Point ASU is 1-3 vs D-I teams, beat Bowling Green at home, going 0-3 at tournament in Virginia.

Orlando at Memphis
A bad start for the Grizzlies as they've dropped eight of their first nine out of the gate. Some of that is due to a tough schedule that had Mike Fratello's team on the road at Detroit, Phoenix, Lakers, Sacramento and Dallas. Even some of the home games (Dallas, Houston) are ruthless, but that's life in the West these days. Memphis will get a chance to turn its attention to the East for a few days starting tonight against Orlando. That may improve the prospects as the Grizz are 1-1 against that conference with a win over Charlotte and a one-point loss to New York. Orlando is improving, but has had stumbles on the road (2-2 record) with double-digit losses at Atlanta (95-82) and Indiana (93-83). This could be a good time for the underdog Grizzlies to pick up win No. 2 according to Dunkel, which has Memphis favored straight up by 3. Dunkel Pick: Memphis (+3 1/2). Air Force vs. Duke
Air Force is off to a 4-0 start with a pair of lopsided road wins at Stanford (79-45) and Colorado (84-46) in its last two outings. The Falcons have combined a tough defense (CU scored only 11 points in the first half) with solid shooting (13-of-25 from three-point range against the Buffaloes) to give coach Jeff Bzdelik a solid team on both ends of the court. Just how solid will be tested tonight as Air Force faces Duke in the CBE Classic. The Blue Devils come in 3-0, but the caliber of competition (Columbia, Georgia Southern and UNC-Greensboro) as well as the home-court advantage has kept Duke fairly comfortable.
