13 questions to break up the week...............

    13) How long before 60 Minutes or some such news show is showing a piece on how lot of young people lose tuition $$$ trying to hit it big in the world of poker? Everyone who plays doesn't win, so you know there are people going broke......

    12) Why should Mets name their new stadium after guy who didn't play for the Mets? Jackie Robinson was a great player, but he played for the Dodgers, who deserted New York.

    11) Does any NFL coach have the onions to let his QB call his own plays? Other than Tony Dungy?

    10) Did trading those draft picks to get Jon Gruden away from the Raiders undermine Gruden's tenure in Tampa? Bucs sure don't have many good players at RB or WR.

    9) And if losing those picks has hurt the Bucs, why haven't they helped the Raiders?

    8) Is there anyone, anywhere who thinks Isiah Thomas can or will fix the Knicks?

    7) What percentage of the people who own racehorses make money at it? It seems like those who do make a fortune, but the vast majority have to lose.

    6) Is this the year an 8-8 team makes the playoffs in NFC?

    5) If you ran a major league team, would you give guaranteed, multi-year contract to Frank Thomas?

    4) Why does John Madden think football fans in New York appreciate defense more than fans in other cities? He's been saying this for over 20 years, and I don't think its true.

    3) Do Red Sox really want this Japanese pitcher, or are they just blocking him from going to the Bronx? I mean, good gosh almighty, they paid $51M, and they haven't signed the guy!!!

    2) Or, do Sox and Scott Boras have package deal going, with JD Drew and the Japanese pitcher both going to Beantown?

    1) Is it possible for a bald man to be elected President?

    Six-Pack for Wednesday

-- NFL finally made Patriots get rid of quagmire their home field had become; they will have FieldTurf instead of mud for their next home game. Its about flippin' time.

-- Patriots also signed 40+-year old Vinny Testaverde to a contract; apparently, Sonny Jurgensen turned them down.

-- Congrats to Butler Bulldogs, who knocked off Indiana, Notre Dame on consecutive nights, and are going to NYC for the Final Four of the Preseason NIT.

-- DePaul lost by 10 at Northwestern, is now 0-2, scoring only 48.5 ppg; not a good start.

-- Game of night: Air Force 69, Long Beach State 68 in game between teams with styles as opposite as you can get.

-- Holy cow!!! The Red Sox paid 51.1 million freakin' dollars just for the right to negotiate for this Japanese pitcher. How many entire major league payrolls are less than that?

                Northern Arizona at Arizona
Arizona opened with a tough road game at Virginia where the Cavaliers were breaking in their new John Paul Jones Arena. Dunkel Index – NCAA Football

                  WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 15

                  Miami (OH) at Bowling Green
A look at the records and one would think that Miami of Ohio (1-9) would have no shot tonight at Bowling Green (4-6). But in the RedHawks last four losses, three have come by just three points to Northern Illinois (28-25), Ball State (20-17) and Western Michigan (27-24). The only "blow out" over that span was a 24-13 loss at Akron that included a late touchdown by the Zips. By contrast the Falcons' recent three-game losing streak has been uglier and includes at 17-point loss to Central Michigan (31-14) and a 14-point loss to Temple (28-14) that snapped the Owls' 20-game losing streak. Bowling Green looks like a shaky Vegas favorite (-4) according to Dunkel, which has Miami of Ohio favored straight up by 4. Dunkel Pick: Miami (OH) (+4).
