NFL - Monday, November 13th, 8:30 p.m. ET
Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2-6) at Carolina Panthers (4-4)
The Panthers have held the lead in the fourth quarter of seven of their eight games this season, losing three of them. They also nearly blew one the last time they faced the Bucs back on September 24th, needing a 46-yard field goal by kicker John Kasay to help them avoid a total collapse after building a 20-7 halftime lead. EDGE: BUCCANEERS
Carolina should get a boost offensively with the return of rookie RB DeAngelo Williams, who has missed the last three games with a sprained ankle. Williams is averaging 5.3 yards per carry spelling starter DeShaun Foster. "Going back to giving them a spark, hopefully - that's what I'm here for," said Williams. EDGE: PANTHERS
The Bucs have scored just seven points in the first quarter this season and have not fared well when playing from behind. The Saints jumped out to a 17-0 lead on them last week en route to an eventual 31-17 victory. "Right now, we are not the juggernaut, offensively, that I think we want to be or we're going to be," Tampa Bay head coach Jon Gruden said. "I really have confidence that we're going to continue to get better. Defensively, we gave up too many big plays. I don't understand it. I really don't." EDGE: PANTHERS - FIRST QUARTER
The Panthers have won six of the last seven meetings with the Bucs, going 5-2 ATS in those games. Outspoken WR Keyshawn Johnson admits to being disappointed with a 4-4 start but believes his team still has what it takes to win it all. "Is the Super Bowl over? Is it over? It's not over," Johnson said. "There's all this Super Bowl hype, but we didn't ask you to give us that. We didn't ask you to put us on the cover of magazines. That was your decision. We are trying to do this for ourselves, we aren't trying to do it for anyone else. As long as our goal is the same, is to get to the playoffs. Let's just get there (to the playoffs) and then all bets are off." Look for the Panthers to make a big statement in their first game of the second half of the season to prove they're for real. Seattle at New Jersey
The Sonics have put together a solid road trip in which they've beaten Atlanta and Charlotte and lost to Orlando and Miami by a combined four points. Ray Allen is shooting well and is coming off a season-high 33, including the game-winner in overtime, against the Hawks. Seattle looks to take advantage of the Nets' playing back-to-back games after yesterday's overtime win at Washington. The Vegas line of 4 1/2 looks to favor the Sonics in this one according to Dunkel, which has New Jersey favored by just 1. Dunkel Pick: Seattle (+4 1/2). Here are all of today's games.

Tennessee vs. Fordham
Bruce Pearl has had to retool after losing some key players from last year's team that won the SEC East and went to the NCAA Tournament as a No. 2 seed. This Vols team is the youngest Pearl has ever coached and features five freshmen playing big roles. But there is experience in the role of the scorer with Chris Lofton (17.2 ppg last season) returning. The chemistry looked good in the opener as Tennessee easily handled Middle Tennessee State (83-52). A tougher challenge tonight against Fordham, the Vols should still cover the Vegas line of 13 1/2 according to Dunkel, which has Tennessee favored by 15. Dunkel Pick: Tennessee (-13 1/2). Ottawa just completed a tough road trip that saw the Senators go just 1-5-1 over the stretch. They return home tonight, but Scotiabank Place hasn't been much more hospitable for the Senators as they've won just two of seven games in their own building. Buccaneers (2-6) @ Panthers (4-4)-Carolina continues to struggle on third down (11-46 in last two games, both losses); they've been outscored in second half of every game TY (107-42 for year, 35-0 in last two games). Panthers covered one of five as favorite this year, failing to cover in first meeting at Tampa (26-24, -3) despite leading 17-0 in first half. Bucs outgained Carolina 350-209 in that game, as Simms played gamely, despite being ill (spleen removed after game). Bucs lost last two games, by 14,17 points, converting just six for last 30 on third down; they've had zero takeaways in four of last five games.

NCAABB
-- Houston has two starters back from 21-10 team, and lot of new guys to give Penders his desired depth. Cougars crushed URI last year, 67-41, as 10-pt favorite. Rams are more athletic this yr; they'll be young, but will try to run more.
-- Illinois State lost tough at SMU Sunday, 57-55. Florida St won their first game, 85-65 vs McNeese. ACC teams are 8-2 vs spread so far in this young season. Missouri Valley teams are 3-1.
-- Youngstown split pair of games last week, whipping Central Michigan, getting whipped by Michigan State. Duquesne has a whole new team (9 new guys) and had couple of them shot at a party in September. Penguins beat Dukes LY, 72-51 (-3.5).
-- Buffalo beat local rival Canisius 72-69 in opener Friday; they have three starters back from 19-13 team. South Florida was 7-22 LY, has three starters back from that team that was 1-14 in conf.
-- Mississippi State whacked shorthanded Nicholls State 90-55 Saturday. LMU has tough 68-65 win over a good Oral Roberts team Friday. WCC underdogs are 1-3 vs spread this season.
-- Maine lost 75-71 in opener at Harvard Saturday, never a good sign. Detroit's PG hasn't played in two years (transfer, then hurt his Achilles). Horizon League teams are 6-3 vs spread so far.
-- Idaho State has new coach who once won three national titles at JC level, but his talent level right now is poor. Big Sky teams are 1-5 vs spread this season. Marquette has three starters back from 20-12 team, is top 20 preseason pick nationally.
-- Arkansas State has three starters back from an injury-riddled 14-15 team; Sun Belt clubs are 5-9 vs spread as underdogs so far this season. Akron has four starters back from 23-win club- they expect to be in NCAAs this season.
-- Gardner-Webb plays in fast-paced league, but they're one of slower teams in it; they have 11 new players, mostly JC kids. Texas Tech beat pretty good Sam Houston team 79-64 in their opener Saturday.
-- Duke was 32-4 last year, has typically strong team, faces a Georgia Southern squad that can shoot 3's and likes to play fast. Duke doubled up Columbia, 86-43 Sunday; Eagles will give them lot better game than that, but Paulus did play for Duke.
-- Nicholls State is young team with four starters back from 10th place team in Southland; they've got only eight guys right now and are playing third game in three days, after flying in from a game at Mississippi State Saturday. Washington had 20+ TOs in surviving Pepperdine Sunday, 99-91.
-- Northern Iowa held Nicholls State off 68-63 Sunday, shooting
Pepperdine got down 16-2 early last night, rallied to within nine in second half, cut it to 99-91 at buzzer.
-- Butler crushed Tulane 77-37 in their opener Friday; Bulldogs lost four of top six scorers, buthave 3rd-year PG. Notre Dame has three starters back from team that went 6-10 in Big East LY.
-- Indiana begins Sampson era with healthy DJ White; if he was healthy LY, Davis would still be at IU. Lafayette
-- Tennessee added depth, athleticism to LY's team that was #2 seed in NCAA's, but they're smallish. Vols whacked MTSU in Friday's opener (83-52). Fordham returns a nucleus of returning juniors (four starters) that won sixteen games last year.
-- Belmont made NCAAs LY, returns six of top seven scorers. NC-Wilmington lost its coach to Wright State, not great sign for school's commitment to sanity. Seahawks will run, shoot more; they've won a lot recently, but expectations are too high.
-- NC-Greensboro has all five starters back from LY's team; they lost opener in OT at Marshall. Southern Conference teams are
6-1 vs spread so far this season. Penn State beat Morehead St 63-46 in its opener Friday.
-- Illinois has three starters back from 26-7 team; 20 years ago, they were upset by Austin Peay in NCAAs. APSU lost its top two scorers from last year's 17-14 team, but has next eight guys after that back.
-- Iowa is loaded in backcourt, young up front and eager to get started after last March's first round flop. Citadel will play hard but doesn't have much. Iowa covered 8 of last 10 at home.
-- Montana State got housed at Utah Valley Friday, 69-37 (UV is coached by former Ball State coach Hunsaker). Big Sky teams are 1-5 vs spread so far. UCSB beat San Jose State 75-67 Friday.
-- Sendek makes Arizona State debut with team learning its new system but have six of top seven scorers back. No.Arizona likes to shoot 3's; they have four starters back from 21-win team that won Big Sky regular season title.
