  • G-Men vs Da Bears

Many think the Bears are the best team in the NFC. Per USA Sagarin Rating, Bears have played the easiest schedule in the NFL while the Giants have played the 12th hardest. Bears have played zero top-10 teams and only one top 16. Conversely the Giants have played two top-10 and five top-16.

Like Sagarin. The best handicapper, the linesmaker, ranks these teams even. The line opened at Giants -3

Bear fans like to point out that the Giants were blown out by Seattle (in Seattle) and the Bears blew out Seattle (at home). However, the Bears have looked AWFUL vs two of the leagues worst teams, Cards and Dolphins.

In the NFL, it's not who you play but when you play them. The Giants went into Seattle off a huge 4th quarter comeback and OT win in Philly. The previous week the Giants opened the season at home in the Manning bowl. While the Bears caught the Seahawks the week off their huge win over the Giants.

Under Manning, the Giants are 12-3 SU and 11-4 ATS at home. In conference games they are 9-1 SU,ATS. Their sole loss was vs Viking in a game they dominated but allowed a INT, kickoff and punt return for TD, giving up no defensive TDs.

The Bears have been impressive the last two season 18-6 SU and 14-8 ATS. However, as noted above they've done it vs weak competition. Like this season, last season they've padded their wins vs poor teams. In 2005 their SOS was 27th. They've beaten up the teams in their division. Arguably, the worst division in the NFL. On the road the Bears have been an average team 7-4 SU and only 4-5 ATS.

Grossman will not scare many teams especially on the road where's he's thrown 7 INTs with only 2 TDs. Outside of the Bears season opening blowout in GB, Grossman has been horrible on the road. Giant stadium, with their winds is a tough place to play in the latter part of the season.

Bears offense? What Bears offense? They rank #19 in rushing. On the road? HORRIBLE! Less than 65 yards per game. As noted above teams are forcing Grossman to beat them. He's failed miserbly.

Bears great defense? Packers, Lions, Vikings, Bills, Cards and Dolphins offense's aren't going to worry most NFL defenses. The highest ranked rushing offense they've faced is #11 Packers.

Giants are very banged up on both sides of the ball. Which is a concern for most bettors. Aside for the QB, injuries in the NFL are overrated.

I agree that the Bears are overrated and I also believe that the G-Men are overrated as well.

I disagree with your last comment though Frank. The Giants are without both All-Pro Def ends and may be without their top 2 WRs (depending on Plaxico).

I am leaning to the Bears in this game.
