Tuesday's List of 13: Nobody asked me, but..............
13) Texas Tech "dismissed" Jarrius Jackson, leading scorer in Big 12, last week; that didn't last too long, since he's back on the squad already. Must have had a hell of a weekend in the library. Funny how 20-point scorers can recover......
12) Atlanta has allowed 14 TDs on opponents' last 43 drives; in first four games, they gave up one TD on 42 drives.
11) Buffalo has three wins; they're +7 in turnovers (7-0) in the three wins, but -10 (4-14) in their five losses.
10) Dallas had 19-12 lead late in third quarter when a certain big-mouthed WR dropped a perfect strike on deep pattern (an easy TD if he catches it); that, and 153 yards in accepted penalties, doomed the Pokes to a loss that drops them two games behind Giants in NFC East.
9) Bill Parcells has to be sick that his Hall of Fame career has to end coaching a nitwit like Owens. If history is any kind of a teacher, the Cowboys' season isn't going to end well, but.......
8) ......18 years in row, at least one team that had .500 or worse record at halfway mark of season made the playoffs. It will be nineteen this year, since only five NFC teams have winning records; six make playoffs.
7) Colts are allowing 5.3 yds/rush, according to cnnsi.com, and are on pace to tie '65 Houston Oilers for second-worst rush defense of any team since 1960 (only the '61 Vikings, an expansion team, allowed more (5.4)).
6) 49ers pulled a successful surprise onside kick vs. Vikings; that underused tactic should be used at least once every other game. It works too much not to try more often.
5) Four teams that outgained their opponent by 100+ yards Sunday lost. Thats how important turnovers are, because the four teams had combined turnover margin of minus-15.
4) The World Series ended ten days ago, and high schools started hoop practice today. Time sure does fly in the fall.
3) Sacramento Kings' coach Musselman has goal of holding opponent to 42% or less from floor; he claims teams in NBA that do that have 75% chance of winning game. .
2) How many coaches you think are on Knicks' short list, to be hired as soon as this disaster of a season ends in April? It is painful to listen to their games, and hear Mike Breen and Walt Frazier try to paint sunny picture on a gloomy scene.
1) That said, if Greg Oden or the Noah kid come out of school early next spring, Knicks will have head start on rebuilding.
