  • NBA Futures... Any Insight on these?

Well I am just throwing out what I think I might put a little something on...

I am a Boston Celtics fan and made a nice amount betting them under 41.5 wins last year... I see no reason to change that this year

    Celtics Under 36.5 wins - 5 units

I think the Bobcats are a much improved team this year... A lot of young talent on what should be a fantastic team in a few years if they all stick together...

    Charlotta over 32 wins - 5 units

I think the Grizzlies find it very tough to win for the first few months with Gasol out... How much of a difference will he make once he returns and how quickly can he become as effective as he was before?

    Grizzlies Under 40 wins - 3 units

Clippers are an improved team with a little bit of depth... I like last seasons improvement to carry over to this year..

    Clippers over 45.5 wins - 4 units

Miami total is set pretty low I think... Who can really challenge them in the East? Detroit who lost a key big man and their defense will not be the same.. Nets who lack the inside game the Heat have... Cleveland who just seems to stick around in big games... I do not see anyone else really being able to keep up with the Heat

    Heat over 50 wins - 10 units

The Nets have very few teams to contend with and should have no problem owning their division again... I can see them as an easy 50 win team...

    Nets over 45.5 wins - 10units

Just for Fun... Adam Morrison for Rookie of the Year... 1 unit +300

Any insight on these... have not placed them just yet ... wanna get some feedback on these...

Charlotte does have a lot of talent, but I'm not sure this team is ready to win a lot of ballgames yet.

Love the Clippers. I think Elton Brand is ready to try and make this team a contender in the west. I see them winning 50-55 games.

Not so sure about the Heat. They didn't seem to play up to their potential in a lot of games last year during the regular season. For instance, when Miami came to Oklahoma City last year to play the Hornets, freaking Shaq and Alonzo were doing And1 moves all during pregame warm ups. You could tell they weren't focused on the game at all and they got drubbed by the Hornets by 20 or so. You may be right, but I just couldn't put my money on them.

I like the Nets over and Morrison for Rookie of the Year.

I think Boston might suprise people this year. They have a lot of young talent. Rondo is looking like a stud on offense and defense. Don't forget how weak the eastern conference is.

I think the Grizzlies bet is easy money.

I really like the Clippers over and Detroit over 50.5. Detroit is still a damn good team and will have an improved offense this year.

Only six teams had 50 or more wins last year. So, keep that in mind. The Heat would worry me a little because Shaq is another year older, J Williams having knee problems, and teams really focusing on Wade.

I also don't know about NJ. 50 wins may be a lot to ask for a team that always seems streaky. Yes, they win 5,6,7 in a row, but they always seem to lose 6 of 8 or something like that.

I don't see the bets being way off, and I'm not saying they aren't winners, but just not easy covers...IMO

Also, it seems to me, that these players don't care at all about the reg season anymore....yes they want to win a division, and yes they want home court, but too many teams seem to just coast through the season, concerned with doing just enough.

i would take that over for the celtics. last year they had a league high 33 games decided by 5 pts or less, and were 12-21 in those games. if the young guys improve in closing out games they could easily win 38-40 games, maybe more. their division stinks too.

I was thinking about the under... I just tend not to have a lot of faith in that team. Wally was not any kind of long term or short term answer for that matter... They have a solid young nucleus but not you have Delonte West riding the pine while Telfair starts? Will it cause a rift? What is West starts and Telfair sits? How will these young kids deal with that? Their division is weak, but they have a propencity for losing games they should win...

                    Already placed..

                    Grizz Under 40 wins - 4 units
Nets over 45.5 wins - 4 units... went down on the units a bit...but are you telling me that they are going to win the division and play .500 ball over the course of a year?? I dont see that happening..

Solid play on the Grizz, if I didn't mind having money tied up for the whole season, I would place it myself. Gasol will be out for two months, and the west is tough, they're screwed. Who can they beat in the West without Gasol, I see 1 team, Portland. Eddie Jones? Mike Miller? Even Seattle looks better.

Gasol was a big part of that team offensively and defensively... my guess is he will not return to full form until sometime after the all star break... so that leaves them half a season at best where they need to go roughly 26-16 to play around .500 ball... my guess is they stray at least 10 games under .500 for the first half of the year... but that will be a tough test to play 10 games over .500 in the west second half of the year when all the bottom feeders are fighting for a playoff spot...

I have two accounts with a local... one is used just for futures... so thats why I dont mind the money being tied up for awhile...
