Detroit Tigers at St. Louis Cardinals
This series looks to be settling into a back-and-forth affair with each team taking a turn shutting down the other. Strong starting pitching has been the key in the early going with the Cardinals getting a solid performance out of Anthony Reyes followed by Kenny Rogers two-hit, eight-inning effort Game Two. Sticking with this theme, the Cards look to have the mound advantage tonight behind Chris Carpenter. While Carpenter has not always been sharp this postseason, he remains a tough obstacle at home in Busch. His 1.81 regular season ERA was followed by a seven-inning, two-run performance against the Padres in his only home start of the playoffs. Detroit counters with Nate Robertson, who didn't look intimidated in his last start in Oakland when he held the A's scoreless over five innings. The Tigers have also looked comfortable on the road this postseason, winning three of four thus far. This one looks to be close with the Cards having a slight edge straight up according to Dunkel, but not enough to cover the run line. Dunkel Pick: Detroit (+1 1/2)
