was gonna do a little research online, but thought i'd get a quicker answer from you guys.. you guys being the experts in sports.

im doing a project on cost leadership for my business class. and im writing about the oakland A's and how they don't spend a lot of money while having success in the MLB. with that said, i need to talk about the salary caps.

correct me if im wrong.. but from my understanding .. NFL and NBA does have a salary cap where each team has a limit to how much they can spend in a given year, while the MLB does not... ?? please correct me if im wrong.. and can you elaborate on it a little more??

i know this is a forum for betting.. but thanks!!
by the way, this project/presentation is due tomorrow so i'd apprepriate any comments asap. thanks once again.

The NFL and NBA and even NHL if I am not mistaken all have salary caps placed on every team. The NBA has had some exceptions to this over the past year or so with the amnesty what not and other things.

MLB has no salary cap but rather a tax on teams that spend a certain amount of money. Once a team surpasses this amount they pay a tax depending upon how much they are over. If I am correct a team can get away with this for one year before having to pay this tax.

Hope this helps. This is all from memory and a little knowledge. Just do a quick search I am sure there is enough about this topic.
