                    Dunkel Index – NHL

                    TUESDAY, OCTOBER 17

                    Dallas at San Jose
Dallas is off to a 5-0 start with four of those wins coming on the road and the last three coming against Pacific Division rivals. The Stars will look to continue both those streaks tonight at San Jose. The Sharks are also off to a hot start (4-1) and have scored the most goals in the league (21). But they will be tested against Dallas G Marty Turco, who is among the league leaders in GAA (1.56) and save percentage (.948), and has enjoyed solid success against San Jose with a career record of 11-2-2. As a Vegas underdog Dallas looks too good to pass up according to Dunkel, which has the Stars favored straight up by 1 1/2. Dunkel Pick: Dallas (+1 1/2). Here are all of today's game

Dunkel Index – MLB (Note change of total)

                      TUESDAY, OCTOBER 17

                      NY Mets at St. Louis

Perhaps the Mets should adopt the motto "Trachsel and Maine; Better Pray for Rain." Whatever the circumstances, the Mets got exactly what they needed in a rainout last night. Now Tom Glavine can come back on regular rest, which should ensure a sharper performance out of the 40-year-old NY ace. Cardinal starter Jeff Weaver also benefits from the extra day, so the advantage may be a wash so to speak as Dunkel still has the Mets favored by 1. But the rested starters will likely keep the run total low as it was in Game One with these two (2-0). The Vegas total of 9 looks high according to Dunkel, which has the total at 7 1/2. Dunkel Pick: Under

Game 973-974: NY Mets at St. Louis
Dunkel Ratings: NY Mets (Glavine) 17.552; St. Louis (Weaver) 16.596
Dunkel Line: NY Mets by 1; 7 1/2
Vegas Line: NY Mets by 1 1/2; 9
