He is an improvement but don't expect any miracles.

I seriously wonder if Girardi is being blackballed?

He did a great job in Florida but I can understand why no owner would want to hire a jackass who publicly tells him off.

I like Piniella a lot but Girardi seemed perfect for the Cubs job. He lives in the Chicago area, played for the Cubs, is a very strong public speaker, is popular with the fans and would help build good will for a screwed-up franchise.

I agree w/realdeal. If Joe doesn't get a second tier job like the Nationals, something is up.

I do think Girardi should have apologized for what he did. Even if the owner of the marlins is a jerk (and he is), you just can't have a hired hand publicly humiliating you. (Imagine if somebody did that to Steinbrenner!!)

I read a couple of blogs on ESPN during the season that openly questioned his game coaching abilities...use of pitchers, double switches, strategies.... Perhaps this is part of it....

Sorry, this was in response to the Girardi question about being blackballed...

I am absolutely shocked by this. Macha has one of the lowest payrolls in baseball and has won consistently. He held his team together after a slow start and ran away with the AL West.

Cheeeeesh! Anybody who doesn't win the World Series gets fired????
