  • ESPN ENOUGH is ENOUGH Part II

Now that the Cory Lidle story has died down ESPN is back to TO. After the Met game I turned to ESPN. They were doing a story on TO. I then change to ESPN News. They also were doing a story on TO. What is their obsession with an overrated receiver? The Dallas games I've watched this season TO has dropped many passes.

    This is FUCKING ridiculous!

I did the same thing. T.O. could fart and they would have "Breaking News" about it!

I think the BC member represent a diverse mix of sports fans. I'll be interesting to see others opinions on ESPN and TO.

Are there any BC members that appreciate the continous coverage of TO?

How about Cowboys fans? What's your opinion on the TO obsession?

Are viewers watching anymore? That is the question. I know I'm not as well as other BC members. Even my girlfriend who's a modest sports fan comments on ESPN's TO obsession.

I emailed ESPN. Not that I expect anything to change.

I don't agree. Most sport fans are NOT soap opera fans. We have a different mentality. We want to see games, stats, hi-lites. IMO most true sport fans don't get caught up in the dramas.

Your right on the soap opera take. a better way of putting it with TO is if he is going to act like an asshole on the field like show up team mates berate coaches on the sidelines or talking out of his ass to the media believe it or not people are going to tune in to see the train wreck he has become and whats to happen next. Sure his act is getting really old and tired but its news and makes for good ratings for ESPN. most people im sure are sick of hearing about it but they want to see what shit he will pull next

I do not care what he pulls next......He is like a broken record and i could give a fuck...Any guy who alligator arms it and then points fingers deserves no respect.....And he heard footsteps last week....13 balls thrown his way...Now he is not talking to his coach and says it is an employee/employee relationship....I thought he worked for the cowboys....His talent in no way makes up for the disruption he causes.....I am sure we are going to here michael irvin come on and say he talked to TO and blah blah blah blah blah.....When the fuck did teams become a certain guys....Its TO's team or Donovans team....I thought they were just team members....I hate that shit....

I would love to see him released.....His antics are nonsense....When has "his way" ever proved to be the right way to win????? hmmmm...can somebody answer me that,,,,,

TO is the man......all he does is cause trouble and they still fed him 25 Million.....this guy is entertaining to say the least.......hes the first guy I have ever seen rattle Parcells

Tell me it wasnt funny watching that press conference with his agent? How about him doing situps on his driveway? How about wearing a helmet while on the exercise bike? How about when he told Parcells his hammy hurts and if he wants to see him play he has 10 years of film? How about when he danced on the star in Big D......signed the ball with the sharpie? Did the Ray Lewis move after he scored? This guy is a classic....Did I think throwing Bledsoe under the bus was right? NO but you damn well know it was the truth.......I think he is rather refreshing to watch........entertaining to say the least and different........the guy is a superstar and I think he is being misused in Dallas........this guy can get 200 and 2 TD every single week if properly used.......he can do it all.

                          PEACE

Well, TO is a soap opera that is so completely pointless it's become a talking point on ESPN about why the media keeps talking about TO (which is a circuitous phenomenon that perhaps represents the more interesting aspect of this TO discussion). ESPN directs all sports coverage, and they're directly responsible for all national focus on any issue. But i think it has a little to do with a lot of different factors.
                              1. MLB disinterest: Viewers have not been tuning in as much to the MLB playoffs (more interest in the lead up to the playoffs, and the 1st round), thus leaving ESPN motivated to cover other shit. Maybe it's changed in the last two days, but viewership has been down, especially in markets outside of the specific teams.

                              2. Obsession: the ESPN staffers are mostly sports obsessed douchebags and disciples from Northeast US schools of thought on sports (try watching an anylsis of SEC, Nascar, or if your not into the south example, WAC or other western conference sports. It's generalized garbage from analysts either hoping to get better gigs or just doing that assignment for that week/or are talking heads that have settled into their nonselfselected niche... and thus both are completely nonengaging) that still think of Notre Dame as a great football team, Green Bay and the Cowboys as america's NFL team of choice. ESPN is obsessed with TO - no getting around it; the Oakland Raiders TO* is just as big of an ass, but gets far less coverage, and its not because they're so terrible they're going to lose every game.

                              3. The media and Bill Parcels: is there anything more fun than getting to hound your prideful former jock HS football coach with questions and situations you know will annoy and anger? I think not (3 is my only reason for watching. I just like to see how this is messing with BP)

                              4. ESPN need not be concerned about programming: Men 18-36 watch ESPN no matter what it shows as long as it is thematically about sports guys are interested in; this is the only network on television that can boast this demographic in significant numbers, as guys at this age are typically either doing other things most evenings (not just bars etc, but videogames, drinking or hanging out with friends, posting meaningless thoughts on bettorschat likemyself, etc).

                              * I will not mention or write the name of the most shameful example of the "me" mentality pro sports has to offer.
                              Thoughts?
