It's the law for one thing. Anyone in public places are not considered to have any privacy rights. To the media or law or anything else. I just did a story on how law inforcement in a small city has video camera's on 100 spots throughout the city, spying on people walking around and doing their own thing. Public place, no privacy. Public officials and people that are considered in the limelight, athletes and movie actors, no privacy when in a public place. It's the law. And lastly, the constitution guarantee's the freeddom of the press. Again, it's the law and until the constitution changes, if you're in a public place or in a news situation, you are considered fair game......Privacy is when you're in your own home or private property. And that's basically it....
