I like a Oakland vs NYM World Series

I think Oakland is the ONE team who can match Detroit's pitching. I had Oakland in the Series against Minnesota and all i heard was that i was crazy. Detroit may have taken out a Giant in NY but they had no pitching. Oakland does and they SWEPT the hottest team in bases winning 2 on the road, one against the "UNBEATABLE" Santana. I really think the Pitching Matchups favor Oakland and the A's have shown to have plenty of "Timely" hitting themselves. It should be a GREAT Series and i do love this Tigers team but i have to pick one and it's the A's.

I like the Mets here. I think St Louis will have an advantage in 2 games, both of Carpenters starts. That's it. Injuries and lack of offense were easy to make up against a S.D. team who has never been an offensive juggernaut themselves. I think that starting pitching is about a wash here but the Bullpen definately favors the Mets (IMO). Offense is the Biggest problem and i don't see the St Louis pitching staff having much of a chance here. Please don't say i'm underestimating the Cards either 'cuz i was one of only a few who had them beating S.D. in the last round.

    ..................................................
    "Home Run" ( Units)
    ..................................................

    Oakland (Zito) ML ---> (-135)

Detroit is (7-21) in Robertson's last 28 starts vs. a team with a winning record.

Detroit is (3-12) in Robertson's last 15 starts as a road underdog.

Detroit is (0-9) in Robertson's last 9 road starts with the total set at 7.0-8.5

Oakland is (69-26) in their last 95 home games vs. a left-handed starter.

Oakland is (36-15) in their last 51 games as a favorite.

Zito is (4-1) in his L5 Starts against Detroit

Oakland is (60-26) in Zito's last 86 starts as a home favorite.

With the above said ... I have to go with Oakland here!

        I agree.

No one was giving the Tigers a chance vs the Yanks. They were wrong. Now most think the Tigers will beat the A's. They again will be wrong.

I actually like the Tigers and the Mets to make it to the world series... now while what you are saying is correct, I do not know that the Tigers will fold to the A's

The A's beat the best pitcher in baseball in game 1, a rookie in game 2, and a washed up radke in game 3.... Their offense is nothing to brag about... they do the little things right... I think this comes down to a battle of the bullpens and another boring low scoring series.... I just feel the Tigers have a slight edge in the pen and they can come from behind a lot easier than an A's team with much less offensive firepower...

As far as the Mets go...

The best thing that could have happened to the Mets was to have Carpenter pitch yesterday which means he should not go game 1... if he pitches it will be game 2 and that will be on short rest as well... The Mets take this series in 5 easily...

Carpenter is pitching Game 3, I have Mets in 6 but I can see it in 5 too.
Gl Wayne I like the pick too, even though Tigers pitching is solid seemed like the yanks hitters helped them out especially in Detroit.

I can't see Detroit over the A's and I agree with everything Wayne says. Of course, I couldn't see Denver covering tonight so take this for what it's worth. This A"s team has something the other A's teams in the playoffs didn't have, middle relief pitching. And Frank Thomas, a real definition of a MVP. The A's would not have made the playoffs without him.

Detroit staggered to the end of the season, while the A's, as always, had a hot second half. I can see Rodgers giving the A"s trouble, he always does, but that's only two wins for Detroit. Getting Harden back to replace Blanton in the rotation, improves the A's pitching furthur. Even Loaiza has been pitching well after a terrible start.

Believe it or not, but I think the biggest problem for the A"s is the loss of Mark Ellis. That's both starting middle infielders out from injuries. Ellis, who I recall only made two errors the entire season, is being replaced by Jimenez, who won't even hit his weight. The A's are as loose as can be, now that they have won a final series game for the first time in nine tries.

The A's are now favored over Detroit to win their series, after opening as a dog to Detroit. It's only -115 but it shows not everyone likes Detroit.
