    Six-Pack for Monday
Six reasons I'm glad Columbus discovered America......

-- Ponce de Leon Day doesn't have the same ring to it.

-- Otherwise, people might still think the world is flat.

-- If Columbus hadn't discovered America, Al Gore may be taking credit for it.

-- The NHL wouldn't have put a team in Magellan, Ohio.

-- People who get the day off can go to the golf course and play nine holes with Alex Rodriguez and Jason Giambi.

-- If Columbus hadn't discovered America, the capitol of Ohio might be in Tipp City.

Monday's List of 13: Wrapping up an NFL Sunday...............

    13) Steelers are in serious trouble for this year; with accident and appendectomy, Roethlisberger can't be anywhere near 100%; they already trail the Ravens by three games.

    12) How could any football player not wear an eye shield on their helmet? It seems stupid not to.

    11) The field at Foxboro is a disgrace, and has been since the new stadium was built; they play soccer on the field too, so it is always mess in the middle of the field. The league should make them put Field Turf down, or stop the soccer there.

    10) In their last three games, Colts have one TD on 14 drives in first half of games; on 14 drives in second half, they've got six TDs and a field goal. They ran ball well against Tennessee but didn't have point at halftime Sunday.

    9) Packers are now 46-1 at home when Favre doesn't throw an interception. Sunday was his first loss.

    8) Steelers won the last 65 times they led by 8+ pts at the half.

    7) Vikings scored 23 points in fourth quarter to beat the Lions and also get an unlikely cover, thanks to two defensive TDs.

    6) 49ers were stopped twice on 4th-and-1, in 2nd quarter of their win vs Raiders, when they could have kicked easy FGs. Oakland is so bad the Niners still beat them by two TDs.

    5) Raiders have been outscored 64-10 in second half so far.

    4) Right now, the Bears are the best team in the league.

    3) Chiefs haven't allowed second half TD this season.

    2) In their first five games, five different Eagles have led the team in receiving yardage.

    1) Speaking of the Eagles, think they're glad last year is over?

Ravens (4-0) @ Broncos (2-1)-Resourceful Baltimore found ways to weasel out wins last two weeks, but opposing QBs were rookies; now they face veteran Plummer coming off bye. Broncos are 13-3 vs spread in last 16 post-bye games, winning last three by combined score of 102-38 (34-13 avg). Billick won four of last five vs Shanahan, losing here 12-10 last year, in game where Baltimore had pair of empty red zone trips, while Plummer was 8-16 on 3rd down. Ravens have forced 28 3-and-outs on 50 drives, helping Ravens to field position edges in last three games. Denver is just 35.7% on 3rd down this year; they'll need to move chains again to win this game.
