I admire Berman for being around as one of the pioneers of the cable boom, and being a fresh alternative, if you can imagine, at the time.

His schtick has grown rather tiresome, but to me he seems like one of the guys you'd have a beer ( or 30) and watch a game with. Maybe it's the whiskey-laced voice, but he seems like a man of the people, if that makes any sense. The booths are filled with former players, and sometimes its nice to imagine a drunken college buddy calling a game from a barroom.

I agree that he probably should stay away from calling any games, but in the studio he seems perfectly suited.

    Just my $0.02, that's all.
You can't always get what you want, but if you try some time, you might find, you get what you need.

I use to love him as well, but his act has gotten old. He can't even finish saying what he's talking about without running out of breath. And for baseball, he's the worst! I don't even watch countdown or primetime anymore. He has lost it.

I agree. I loved when McCarver did the Met games in the late 80s.

Berman just has to be in the middle of everything. When ESPN had hockey he had to be there also.

Surprised he doesn't do the X-games also (although he might, i wouldn't know, I don't watch them).
            Good Luck to everyone

Richie: [after Gus hits a homerun] Wow and he did it without steroids.
            Clark: What's steroids?
Richie: Something that makes your pee-pee smaller.
Clark: There must be steroids in macaroni!
