HEY FELLAS,
I HAD TO LEAVE MID SUNDAY TO SEE THE DOCS, BUT ALL IS GOOD NOW AND I'M FINALLY BACK HOME. LETS HAVE A GOOD DAY AND BEST OF LUCK
MLB
THIS NOW TAKES THE PLACE OF THE USUAL HOT PITCHER / COLD PITCHER POSTS
Verlander is 1-2, 9.00 in his last three starts; Detroit lost six of his last nine starts. he gave up six runs in five IP at home vs Bronx in game Tigers later won June 1 (7-6). Bronx won five of last seven Mussina starts. Getting swept by Royals last weekend doesn't exactly make you optimistic Detroit can hang in this series. Just so you know, Mussina actually had complete game win May 31 in Detroit, 6-1, tossing 101 pitches. I'd rather see Angels or the White Sox opposing the evil Bronx team here, but no such luck.
Cardinals started season 42-26 (June 18) but played terrible ball since then (41-52) limping into playoffs, but they won Game 1 in San Diego, making Larussa 7-0 vs Bochy in playoffs. Weaver is 3-0, 5.00 in his last five starts, as St Louis scored 37 runs in the five games. He allowed three runs in six IP in start vs San Diego when he was still on the Angels. Wells is 1-2, 3.49 in five starts for Padres, but won last start, shutting Arizona out for 6 innings
Mets survived Game 1, using relievers to get through. Glavine gets nod here; he beat Dodgers twice this year, shutting them out for six on Sept 7 (7-0) after giving up six runs in 5.1 IP June 7, in 9-7 Met win. Kuo shut Mets out for six innings in 5-0 win on Sept 8, but was 0-1, 4.24 in four starts after that. Mets are 25-22 vs lefty starters this season, which explains Kuo starting here. Mets won five of Glavine's last six starts.
