no one has produced consistantly other than Pujols... their lineup was dangerous about 2 years ago, but Edmonds and Rolen are old and they have an injured leadoff man along with the shakiest pen in the playoffs except for maybe the Yanks or Tigers...
I think San Diego's pitching gets the job done here

if carpenter is on, they wont need a bullpen...also, sd lineup doesnt scare anyone
Check his last two starts. 15 innings, 12 Earned Runs. Looks like the St. Louis downfall finally got to him too. And Peavy has done just the opposite. He was shit in June and July, with an ERA over six, but since August 1st his ERA is just 2.63.
I would lean to SD here and I usually look toward dogs, not faves.
Carpenter was overused his last two starts by Larussa and shelled when he was tired. I don't know that he'll be effective for more than six innings. St. Louis' bullpen is just awful which is why he was overused in the first place.
As for St. Louis' lineup, Spezio and Pujols are the only two guys who've delivered big hits the last two weeks.
As for SD, Peavy's been pitching very well and Trevor Hoffman is a much more reliable closer at the moment than Isringhausen.
