  • Twins ?

I know the Twins were tied for first a few times this season. Were they ever in first by themselves (not by % pts either) until the last day? If so, has any team gone the whole season never having a division lead until after the last game was played?

    GO TWINS :celebrate
    Good luck to all!!

Good question.. I dont think that they were in sole possession of 1st place until now.. Im glad that they won the division because i as a Yankee fan DO NOT want to face the Twins in a short series with that rotation they have.. Good thing if we both advance it will be a 7 game series! GL TO YA!!

              Fwiw

Not sure if you want this to count but the Twins were actually in first place by the themselves for about 2+ hours at right around the last week of the season. I believe BOTH teams were tied and Detroit lost an early game and Minnesota then had a half game lead in the division. They subsequently lost their own game later and they were once again tied.

NOW THAT IS GETTING TOO TECHNICAL!

BOTTOM LINE IS CONGRATS TO THE TWINS WINNING A DIVSION while resting the likes of Castillo and several other key starters that requested time off and not worrying about the matchups.......Deep down they wanted the train wreck Yankee staff vs. a very good A's staff but that's the breaks.

To show their snubbing of the outcomes they let Hi Ho Silva start today as cannon fodder as he won't be one except for an emergency come key playoff games (unless Minn has a commanding P.O. lead and do not need a lock down win and wants to rest a staff).

CONGRATS TO THE TIGERS TOO AS IT IS NO SMALL FEAT TO GO FROM WORST TO THE PLAYOFFS.........Minnesota in '86 was the worst team in the Major Leagues and in 1987 won the World Series........WORST TO FIRST!

Why not Detroit? They can swing bats with the Yanks. Should be some nice totals to look at in that series considering the Tigers young pitchers can come up with a good game too in an idiot savante situation. Yankme starters can obviously all be hit hard and often.

(BOTH Oakland and S.D. could be surprising dark horses and worth a $ look)

CONGRATS TO ALL THE PLAYOFF TEAMS INCLUDING BOTH THE NY teams! gv
