  • Red Flag Game of the Week

    Red Flag = LAY OFF.

Lay waaaay off the Saints-Panthers game. HUGE game for Carolina and many think they should roll with Saints off emotional Monday nighter. But this line is crazy. If the Saints play half as good as their potentail, have a even modest run game, and avoid prolific mistakes, they can cover.

No way. Carolina is in a strong technical position that invites a play on them. But the line is too high and its hard right now to guage just how good the Saints may, or may not, be. I cannot see taking either side.

Carolina is going to be one of my top plays as well - and the line really isn't crazy. If you think about it, the Panthers would have been a 10 or 11 point favorite if this game was played in week 1. The Saints are getting a whole lot of love for a team that really hasn't done THAT much.
Short week off an emotional win, facing a desperate team, 3-0 team a 7 point dog to a 1-2 team ... I really like Carolina here.
            Records:

            NCAA Hoops (38-34-2, +4.59*)
            NFL Sides (34-25, +12.15*)
            NFL Totals (18-14-1, +8.23*)
            NCAA Foots Plays (65-48-4, +21.47*)
            NBA Plays (4-1-0, +5.92*)

Carolina was going to be my Top Play as well. I had it circled before the Saints ever played their Monday Nighter. A couple things changed my mind.

One, the Saints looked like more than just an emotional team Monday night. They looked like a team on a mission that goes beyond that single game.

Two, a retrospective look at their first two wins.

Three, they are the highest rated team in the NFL of the 28 teams that have played 3 games. I just can't lay the points to them. They would have to totally collapse, which they might do.

Having said all that, there's no doubt this is a HUGE game for the Panthers for a ton of reasons. Couple that with the fact that the Saints could come out emotionally flat, and, yes, it seems to smell of a rout; or at least cover.

BUT...I maintain that the best play is a PASS. The Saints have something brewing in New Orleans; a different spirit this seaosn under their new head coach. Watch out.

Are you prepared to lay 7 points to the most statistically sound team, thus far, in the NFL? This time last season my excel had the Steelers in that role.
