The Padres, Dodgers, or Houston can beat the Mets... they Mets are looking like the Cards right now.. and it is all because of such an early clinch... they are going in with a losing record over the last 2 weeks and that is just not how you want to go into the playoffs...

The Mets will lose in the NLDS and have fans wondering what more needs to be added to make this team win the big one... Dodgers in 4!! Padres in 4!! mark my words they will not win the NLDS!!

      i hate the astros.

they underachieve every year then get hot the final 6weeks make it to the playoffs. everyone hypes their starting pitching. well if you bother to watch. Astros hitting is pathetic. i hope they dont get in, the dont deserve it.

The Cardinals are getting blown out of games and don't have a closer. The Mets have one of the best bullpens in baseball and the best lineup in the NL.

Let's not get crazy comparing them to St Louis right now.

The Mets obviously need to improve their starting pitching. No one in NY is wondering anything.

I agree. I like the Pads to come out of the N.L. for some reason

You crack me up...Mets looking like the Cards....BWAAAA!!!! Mets fans wondering what more needs to be added to make this team win the big one?!?!?!!?!!?!? Are you serious or delusional? They have the best 8 man lineup in the NL, one of the best bullpens and have a starting staff of El Duque, Glavine, Trachsel and Maine...and you actually think, if we do not win the NL, that we will have no idea why we lost? When you make a statement like that, it makes your prediction empty because the statement is nonsense and would be a statement that someone who does not know what they are talking about would make.

mets 11-12 with pedro on the mound this year and he won two games after the all star break.
How many more titles will the Yankees try to buy it never ends.

mets lose to the dodgers or padres in 4 if your so sure why don't you bet on it. Yankees stumbled into playoffs in 00 did pretty well. Take out pedro and oliver and they don't get blown out all the time.

Didn't the White Sox not only stumble into the postseason last year, but almost not make it? I think things turned out pretty well for them.

PLEASE don't tell me you are comparing the White Sox Pitching staff from last year to the Senior Citizens you guys are throwing out there next week?????

                        Not even comparable (IMO).

Wayne, I may be off base in saying this, but I think RM's point is that you do not need to be hot entering the playoffs to make a run...there are plenty of examples in the recent past which would prove that to be the case. The Yankees had an awful September in 2003 (?) and made the WS. I don't think he was comparing the Mets to the White Sox, he was just responding to someone who said they were limping into the playoffs, which we all acknowledge. But come the postseason, it is a new season.

I know what he meant and my point remains the same. It doesn't matter how hot or cold you are coming in but you still need pitching to Win. As a fan of baseball, i don't see that as a world series capable pitching staff ... I just don't. Who is the Ace? Glavine, the crafty lefty? Followed by and aging and not scary Hernandez & Trachsel??? ... SCARY (IMO)!

They better hope to out MASH everyone to win!

                              Either way it won't matter.

The A.L. will TROUNCE the N.L. yet again .......

It's not as big of a deal that it seems.

The Mets this season are 11-12 when Pedro starts. Over the last 2 seasons the Mets are 28-26 when Pedro starts. The record shows they are a better team when he does not start.

Pedro got off to a great start this season. Since May 1 the team is 6-12 when he starts.

Don't count out the Mets just yet. They've won without Pedro and they'll continue to win without him.
