  • Sorry Seattle.. Kiss your season goodbye..

I hate it for him very class act guy!

The Seahawks lost reigning MVP Shaun Alexander indefinitely after X-rays revealed a small crack in his left foot.

Alexander missed two days of practice last week because of the foot injury believed to have been sustained during a tackle in the Arizona Cardinals game in Week 2. Seahawks coach Mike Holmgren, who announced the injury Monday, wasn't sure which part of Sunday's game against the Giants that Alexander suffered further injury to the foot.

Holmgren said he isn't sure how long Alexander will be out but it's possible he could miss a month. Holmgren said Alexander's injury is a non-displaced fracture of the foot.

"You lose the MVP for a while, it's a hit," Holmgren said. "Let's face it, he's the MVP. We're not going to sugarcoat it."

Maurice Morris will be the starter in Alexander's absence. The Seahawks have a bye week following Sunday's game against the Bears in a matchup of 3-0 teams.

Alexander rushed for 47 yards and a touchdown in Seattle's 42-30 victory over the New York Giants.

John Clayton is a senior NFL writer for ESPN.com.

Information from The Associated Press was used in this report.

Its more like the jinx of the madded cover.. Every single player that has been on the cover on John Madden's game has gotten hurt that year.. Think about it.. Faulk,Ray Lewis,Mike Vick,Warner,Alexander.. Every single one got hurt the year they were on the cover of that game

Yeah, I'd say that is a massive overstatement. Seattle is 3-0 and plays in a HORRIBLE division. Morris is a very good backup. They have one of hte best defenses in football, and will have no problems winning their division. Shaun missing a few games will be nothing for them.

They've been successful this season with limited rushing yardage from Alexander. Besides, IMO rushing success is predicated on your offensive line. The best running backs would be average behind a lousy o'line.

I'm not ready to kiss their season goodbye.

You can't always get what you want, but if you try some time, you might find, you get what you need.

hate to see it, cause I think Alexander is one of the top 3 running backs in the NFL---that being said, how many times have I seen a back up step in, and do as good as the starter....

Lots of times--------OL is what opens holes, and they'll find a RB that can pick em----kapt

I not happy this happened to Alexander, but in a way, it serves the Seahawks right, playing him in the third quarter, ahead by 32. Dumb, real dumb,, considering he missed two days of practice because of his foot injury. The end of the Seahawks season? Not when they play in the weakest division in the NFL.

i have seattle under season win total...sounds like a jones fracture. 5th metatarsal. poor blood flow to that bone and poor healing rate especially for athletes. see yao ming last year. if he is not healed in 3 to 5 weeks insert a screw and he is done until playoffs.
