What a disgraceful display for the 2nd straight Ryder Cup by the Americans. It one thing that the supposed best golfers in the world lose but to lose how poorly they've lost the last two Cups is unbelievable.

I believe the Americans are better golfers overall. The Americans play with no emotion. The Ryder Cup has no meaning for the American golfers. They seem to play with very little national pride.

It's also clear that they are just not as accomplished at match play as the Europeans.

Didn't Paul Casey win the World Match Play Championship just a couple of weeks ago?

Agreed...things have changed. It seems to be similiar to USA Basketball. Maybe even worse? After all, we have the top 3 players in the World...or do we? We definitely have #1...after that I'm not so sure? Disgraceful would be the right term.

I don't buy into that as an excuse. Why is this American team different that previous generation teams? Those players played NO match play tournaments liek they do now.

From what I've seen the last few cups. The Europeans make the big putts while the American's don't. Match play is about making birdies. I play in many match play tournaments. At my level there's more strategy involved because players get strokes on some hole. In the Cup it's straight golf. Hole to hole.

Yesterday's first match for Tiger and Furyk was a good example. How many short putts did Tiger miss? Again today, Furyk missed too many makeable putts.

Another point! How does Tiger explain his amazing match play record in personal matches but his match play record in the Ryder Cup is horrible?

The controversy from a few years ago seems to be true. For those who forgot Americans wanted to be paid to play the Ryder Cup. Since that controversy the Americans haven't gotten trounced. I believe the American are spoiled over-paid athletes. Since they receive no compensation they don't truly care about the Cup.

All golf Professionals in the US grow up playing Match Play Events...I am a former Florida State Match Play Champion. Played plenty of match play events in college golf as well. After I turned Professional very few match play events...

I agree with you Frank, no excuses, all these US Players have had plenty of match play experience!

Bottom line...NOT ENOUGH PRIDE IN COUNTRY...SPOILED...INDIVUALISTS. For the most part.

Europe has also closed the gap significantly in skill and the ability to play on the PGA Tour and the advent of the European Tour has helped them.

I agree. All the big amateur events are match play. Tiger's record in those events are amazing. It's an excuse made by the media looking for reasons for the American failure.

Once again I agree. The gap is very close. Even if overall the Europeans were slightly better. That being said to lose the last two cups as badly as we've lost them leads to another reason than talent gap. The Americans have been trounced the last two cups.

Also the PGA now has a match play tournament. The Americans have done well. Oglivy won this year but 3 Americans were in the semis.

The prior three years have been won by Americans. Toms and Woods, twice.

No shit. Bill and I used to speak on the phone all the time during NBA season.

Too bad we didn't know you sooner. We had a BC golf outing in Ocala on July 1. We had dinner and partied at the Villages Friday night. Then played golf Saturday morning. It was a blast.

                          Tell Bill I said Hi.

I'm in Port Orange. When I used to talk to Bill he always talked about a local friend. Did you and Bill play NBA 2nd half bets? Are you the same friend?
