I can complain because they did nothing to attempt at keeping that streak going... it is pathetic to have a streak like that and not want it to continue...
During the streak did they open their pocketbook to get free agents? If no, then why should they change 14 years of success? They were successful developing young talent.
Ahh but needing players at key positions such as bullpen help which they desperately needed, a corner outfielder while Ryan Langerhans learned and got more experience, a power hitting first baseman because Adam Laroche sucks!, and a starting pitcher with some experience.... Leo Mazzone was the reason for a lot of the pitching success... no one saw that until this year...
I am not condoning buying talent year in and year out, but at least take a stab and maybe take a piece of the puzzle away from others like the Mets... maybe go after a duaner sanchez as a set up man or a Carlos Delgado and drive the asking price up... why not put in a big pitch for Billy Wagner(the Braves did lose 27 games because of blown saves - streak might have coninuted or at least still be a race if they win even half of those games) ...at least make some kind of attempt to improve and do not be happy with mediocrity... they won one World Series and lost what 4 during the streak... what does that tell you..
Hey we are good enough for 162 games but when it comes to the playoffs we choke and can not perform... some of which is due to lack of experience...
I know fan support is god awful in Atlanta, but maybe bring in a big name like oh I don't know ANYONE! and try to attract more people to the ballpark... they are just not an exciting team to watch and I pray they do some tweaking in the offseason...
thankfully I don't have time warner got optimum cable.
Braves have a lot of talent just need pitching the hitting with francoeur, laroche, chipper, andrew, mccann & Diaz a .330 hitter in half the year.
Bullpen should be better next with if wickman, baez, reitsma all healty.
How many more titles will the Yankees try to buy it never ends.
