Can it be used to make money long term in football and basketball?
    MLB (2014): (3-4) -.9 units

  • #2
yes, but not just using it at face value....you have to utilize a "K" factor in there, i e. Dunkel vs the actual, and set parameters, then stick to it.......kapt

when mentioning "K" factor, which type of example are you referring to?

      1) Play all games where you have a 7-point line advantage (Dunkel vs actual)

      or

      2) Play teams that have a significant rushing and defense advantage.

      Thanks Kapt,

"K" factor of 8 difference or better, or Dog turnaround that results in 8 or better.......i,e, Line is -17 and dunkel shows -25, thats a play.....Team A is favored by 5 1/2, and Dunkel shows Team B by -2 1/2 thats a 8 point turnaround......

The plays using this "K" factor this weekend would be----this is on todays lines. you have to watch em cause everyone gets different lines.......If you're gonna do this, then OPENING LINES vs Dunkel is the way to go, oddsmakers against Dunkel ratings, not what the public has bet the line to....

          some examples would be---to play

          314 Ohio ST -
          330 Miami Ohio -
          387 Navy +
          392 Geo Tech -

Close calls would be----then again according to the lines you have, would be

          333 S Fla +
          343 Baylor +
          351 Fresno St -
          365 N C St +
          369 Az St -
          371 LSU +
          381 Utah -

Monitor it for a while, and see how you do.....kapt

I used to use it a lot, now it's only one of the attributes I factor in......I use it as a tool now, not going strictly with it.........kapt

Point 1----I use 8, cause it takes 2 good plays to score 8, only 1 and the typical PAT for 7.....I look at it as 2 possessions.....harder to overcome........

Point #2----Dunkel doesn't show rushing or passing stats, they rate the teams based on rushing, passing, defense, home field, and show the difference in ratings.........

In the NFL the lines are usually pretty sharp so its tough to use this system.

Whats a good margin for basketball. About 6 or 8?

                    Kaptain,
Once again I compliment you on your class.....

TOOO MANY "cappers" don't teach or show others how to handicap or show another way of skinning the cat. I would like to learn more from this site then just read someones selections.

I agree with rwall, the cappers I follow on here are the ones who give explanations for their picks. Thanks Kaptain for sharing your systems and information with us.

Rwall I look forward to your posts too, Thanks

Kaptain with basketball coming up I wanted to know what your thoughts were comparing dunkel line vs vegas line. I was thinking of using a margin on 5 becuase the max points a team can score on one play is 4. Thanks, Wes

I use dunkel myself as one of my tools, IMO it works better later in the season. For example, in hockey, the teams that got off to a hot start are over valued, and the teams that got off to a cold start are under valued.

I like the Margin of 8= 2 possessions..........

Too many late turnovers have killed me at the very end of a game............

If a team, by Dunkel, figures to be 2 posession or better, I take m....thus the parameter is 8....correcto, but just up your K factor to 8.....IMO----kapt
