  • NFL Sunday: Two live dogs

    YTD 0-0

I had an outstanding NFL year in 2005, going 33-19 in the regular season, including 13-4 on top plays and 3-0 on plays 3* and higher. Unfortunately, I had a rotten playoffs going 0-3.

The NFL is historically my strongest sport and I hope for a solid year in 2006. Plays are rated 1-4 stars with most being 1's and 4 being my GOY.

    1* Packers +3 1/2
I just can't see laying more than three on the road with a team that doesn't score. I see no reason why the Bears offense will be that much better this year than last. But the Packers defense is dramatically improved at linebacker and in the secondary. Green Bay looked awful in the pre-season but gets to open at home in an emotionally charged atmosphere.

    1* Giants +3 1/2
The Colts' implosion at the end of last year may carry over to 2006. But even if it doesn't, the Giants are a legitimate threat to win the NFC and a more balanced team than Indy. Big defensive edge to New York. Once again, we have a home team getting more than three points in an emotional game.

Richie: [after Gus hits a homerun] Wow and he did it without steroids.
    Clark: What's steroids?
Richie: Something that makes your pee-pee smaller.
Clark: There must be steroids in macaroni!

                    CFB update

After a lousy 1-4 start to my college plays last week, I went 2-0 Saturday, winning big with Texas A & M and snaking through with UTEP plus the points.

As far as the NFL goes, I'm sticking with the above two plays and will get more aggressive as the year goes on and I get a better feel for this season.
