Tonight I had NO opinion on the game so after looking into it here's who and why.....
Cincy +8 over Pitt
Starting with last years game Pitt won and covered @ Pitt...however Pitt had scored a good portion off miscues and penalties. The game opening ko was returned for 68 yds by Pitt. BUT Cincy's D held them to a FG. The second score by Pitt was set up by a blocked punt by Pitt. A penalty on the ensueing ko pinned Cincy in side the 15. An int later set Pitt up for a fg. Again a defensive hold. Pitt then scored a 3rd quarter td off a 79 yd punt return.....
This Cincy team is more experienced one than last years. Pitt's win last week vs. Virginia appears impressive to me but Al Groh is definitely in a rebuilding year and 2 scores came off interceptions. Cincy's game aginst E Kentucky seems unimpressive but they did shutout EK. An EK team ranked in the IAA polls, so eventhough not Va. or D1 caliber I believe they had the opportunity to game plan a bit against a decent team.
Pitt is 1-8 SU on Artificial Turf
Cinci is 9-1 ATS & SU w/Revenge (this is a true revenge spot, The Red River Rivalry and NOW it is a Conf game)
Pitt is 10-23 on the rd vs. teams w/ revenge
Home team was 8-2 in Pitt games last yr and on an 8-0 run since Pitt covered @ Neb the 3rd game last year.
Pitt is 2-12 in their first conf rd game
Pitt is also 4-17 as a rd fav of more than 6
