  • Computer Help Needed

I was at a local hotel this weekend because I had 2 drafts this weekend. While at my draft, I tried to get on this site and my 2 offshore sites. All of the sites gave me a message that I was unable to go to the requested site becuase it had gambling implications. It then asked me for a password and I had no idea.
Has anyone ever seen this or (more importantly) does anyone know a password or a way around this for future reference?
Am I the longest tenured BC member?

My guess is the hotel had a firewall that blocks certain website. Sometimes based on key words.

I was going to ask a similar question tonite.

-When using wireless internet on my laptop, I cannot access bodog or pinnacle. The top of the page comes up, but that is it (no lines or anything).

Try changing the MTU setting on your router. Try 1492 or 1400.

If the router changes (which are definitely easier and should be your first attempt) don't work here is another option - kind of a creative end around - but if you have the resources and the time it is worth a try:

                  1) Get access to a remote machine - one that is outside the firewall - like your home PC
                  2) Put vnc
                  http://www.realvnc.com/
                  on both computers
                  3) set the remote pc to auto-accept requests for control
                  4) then when you are using a network that has restrictions you can go from the hotel to the remote pc via vnc and go anywhere you want from there

                  - or -

                  1) Get a high speed air-card - like one of the Verizon broadband cards - and use your own network access everywhere

                  good luck

If the home PC is running Windows XP PROVNC is not needed. XP Pro has a built in Remote Client/Host.
