Dolpnins vs Panthers are Superbowl preview???

I've heard at least one radio sports show host make this prediction about 2 weeks ago. Everyone on the planet is picking Carolina for good reason, and some are picking Miami to at least win the AFC EAST.

The Dolphins have the ingredients if:

A.) They can shore up there secondary.
B.) They can maintain a reasonable running game in the absense of Ricky Williams.

    If, if, if...then maybe...

No chance in hell the Dolphins go to the Super Bowl. They'll be hard pressed to make the playoffs. They'll have to run the board at home to make the playoffs.

I don't think the Dolphins have a prayer of finishing ahead of the Pats. JMHO.

I like the Dolphins to win the AFC EAST. Last season they were statistically sound, although only middle of the pack in the NFL and below average in the AFC. They did however own the best Power Rating in the AFC EAST. Replacing Williams will be a huge key. Their secondary allowed 4 TD's passing of 50+ yards in their pre-season opener, but...that's pre-season. Their starters allowed only one of them if I recall correctly...

p.s.- Bover, I was accused of smoking crack this time back in 2003 when I picked the Panthers to go to Bowl! WARRIOR NOT SMOKE CRAK!!!!!!

Don't put too much weight in Miami's 6-0 finish last season. Four of the six wins were vs some of the leagues worst teams. Prior to their finish they lost 6 of 7 with their only win vs a bad Saints team.

I really think Miami will be competitive this year and a 10-6 or 11-5 record isn't that far fetched. Part of the bad start last season had to do with the new coaches and new systems.

The thing that stands out the most to me is their 4-4 record on the road and 4-2 vs playoff bound teams. Good special teams, respectable defense. They are very close, in my opinion, to having the right ingredients, but it will depend on the variables I mentioned above. One thing I feel sure of, their head will be right with Saban at the helm. If they get on an early roll, it could escalate much the way the 2003 Panthers did...

I agree, Saban is going to make this team a winner, but with 9 new starters on defense it will take time for them to jell. Maybe playoffs this year, but next year for sure.
