Help w/ details-1980 All Star Game-Pete Rose

think it was the 1980 all star game, rose head-dives into home to score, collides w/ catcher who is then taken off the field on a stretcher, and (i believe) out for remainder of season...rose loudly criticized for that effort in a basically meaningless (in1980) game...who was the catcher he collided with? thanx in advance, caper

Believe it or not the game was played on July 14, 1970 at the then-new Riverfront Stadium in Cincinnati.

It really doesn't feel that long ago for us old timers!

and he hurt him----senseless play on Rose's part.......

Playing hard is one thing, in an All Star game, it all about the players being rewarded for being the Publics choice........

I'll never forget it---he put his shoulder down (a la Fullback) and just bowled right in/over him..........
