  • Ted Lilly Busts Manager In The Nose...

According to The Associated Press, Blue Jays manager John Gibbons and Ted Lilly got into an argument -- and possibly a fight -- after Gibbons removed the pitcher from Monday night's game.
In 2 1/3 innings, Lilly allowed seven runs, all of which came in the third. Gibbons argued with Lilly on the mound and later in the tunnel leading to the clubhouse after the pitcher left the game. A team trainer and a few players raced down the stairs of the tunnel after Gibbons followed Lilly. A television camera later showed Gibbons with a bloody nose. If the two truly fought, Lilly might be handed some sort of suspension by the team. A trade might be difficult because he's unlikely to clear waivers. He might have already been claimed earlier this month. Aug. 21 - 9:09 pm et.................

Ubelievable...I remember, geesh, it has to be 5-6 yrs ago, when Lilly and Soriano were rookies with the Yankees, I am in the VIP section of the China Club (a very hot club in NYC) on a Monday night and Lilly and Soriano were at the table next to us, with three hotties. He looked like such a tool! And Soriano couldn't have weighed more than a buck sixty, soaking wet...

                    You are right......stupid story....

But the point was I just can't imagine having seen him in civies giving anyone a bloody nose. And, if you had told me back then that Soriano would hit 40+ HR's a year, I would have bet my house, car and first born against it....

Saw the highlights, and you could tell that Lilly was very very pissed.

Reading his lips he said "I'm not fucking ready" and I'm trying to win...I'm trying to win the fucking game"

Once Gibbons went in the tunnel it was less then 5 seconds until the Jays bench went to the tunnel after him.

Only I would bet on a team where the starting pitcher and manager duke it out in the clubhouse
