  • Huge Move by the Mets

Mets, Wright sign $55 million, six-year contract extension

Wright joins Jose Reyes, who signed a $23.25 million, four-year extension on Thursday. I love that the Mets are signing their young talent to long term contract. The Mets are going to be a force for years.

I agree. I expect great things from those 2 players in particular.

I love it! Lock 'em up! I love the fact they have all this homegrown talent and they can also compliment it by spending a lot of money. Reminds me a little bit of the mid to late '90 Yankees, although they had more homegrown talent and spent less on the complimentary pieces.

I am anxious to see how Minaya's drafts turn out.

Now if they can get themselves a young arm or two.

Pelfery and Phillip Humber are considered "can't miss" prospects. John Maine looks pretty damn good. We'll see if it's a fluke or not. Bannister looked solid in preseason and at the beginning of the season before he was injured.

It's just refreshing to have a GM who has a plan and carries it out.

They lose some decent sized contracts this off season (Floyd, Trachsel, Matsui), and they must upgrade the pitching. Benson would really look good in a Met uniform right now. That is one of only a couple of moves that Omar has made that I did not like.

I read an article in the New York Post about 2 months ago that said that Reyes and Wright both want to stay with the Mets togethr for the entire Careers. (Of course money changes things later on), In the article they were being compaired to Bagwell and Biggio, but saying that there chances of getting a WS is better.
                    Good Luck to everyone

Richie: [after Gus hits a homerun] Wow and he did it without steroids.
                    Clark: What's steroids?
Richie: Something that makes your pee-pee smaller.
Clark: There must be steroids in macaroni!

SHOULD GO HARD AFTER ZITO AND LET GLAVINE GO, that would make it nice with pedro, zito, el duque, maine, traschel
                        richer over the line

Why let go of Glavine? He's still a quality starter? I'd take Glavine over El Duque.

El Duque over Glavine? And Maine? Plus, he is signed through 2007 so he ain't going anywhere. And Trachsel is a free agent after this year.
