  • Mets Trade

Guys, some help please...I can't find anywhere that the Linebrink trade actually happened. Does anyone know for a fact that it happened or was this pure conjecture?

Damn.....I can't find anything either. Neither the Mets' nor SD's websites say anything about it.

It's bogus...it never happened. Awful...I am back to this being a bad trade and being depressed. Because of Sanchez' injury, they were forced to overpay.....

It isn't on ESPN.com, CBSSportsline or the Mets own website.

I agree, but as long as they aren't planning on using Perez as part of the rotation, I think it will be okay. I do agree that they overpaid, though.

For all Met fans...listening to Mike and the Mad Dog on tape....Omar says he was close to obtaining a 'major' pitcher yesterday. Also said that other teams did not know about Sanchez injury until after they obtained Hernandez. He is high on Perez, especially because he is 24 y/o. He felt forced to make a trade with Nady b/c of the injury to Sanchez, probably would not have traded Nady otherwise. Not surprised about Abreu going to the Yankees because no other team in baseball could pick up his salary for next year in its entirety.

ESPN said Linebrinck trade never happened and the Mets were failures getting what they needed!

                      This off MLB.com..

Before the Mets learned of the injury Sanchez suffered as a passenger in a taxi in Miami late Sunday, they were involved in discussions that would have brought Astros pitcher Roy Oswalt to Shea Stadium in a three-way trade with the Astros and Orioles that would have sent Lastings Milledge to Baltimore, Miguel Tejada to Houston and Adam Everett to the O's. Those talks occasionally overlapped with the Mets' effort to acquire Jason Schmidt, another power starter, from the Giants

Those three-way talks "lost steam" late Sunday, according to Minaya. And by the time they might have been renewed Monday morning, the general manager had changed his focus.

Supposedly Baltimore's baseball people wanted to make the 3 way deal with the Astros and Mets and Peter Angelos nixed all deals involving Tejada.

Oswalt would have been a huge factor for the Mets.

I agree...if the Linebrink trade had happened, yesterday would have been a positive. But just the one deal...they overpaid for Hernandez and got a batting practice pitcher in addition. Bad day.

Minaya must have thought he didn't have anyone on the current staff to replace Sanchez, although I think Hernandez' ERA since last years' All Star break is over 5.00, so i'm not sure he's the answer.

Aaron Heilman has a fastball in the low to mid 90's with a wicked change-up in the 70's. He has the stuff to dominate. He needs to get his head out of his ass and start pitching, again, like he did last season.
