I am making a large play Sunday - call it game of the year - which I think is a dumb term, unless it's literally the last day of the year - or whatever you want, but I won't bet more than this on a game this season (by simple money management philosophies).
Baseball Plays (61-60, +6.10*)
These plays aren't that numbers-oriented. I am out of town, and don't have them handy, but I feel both plays are very strong.
3* Atlanta Braves +114 (James/Glavine)
Well, I simply love the Braves in this spot. They have owned Glavine since he left Atlanta, and it will be more of the same tomorrow, as the Braves pick up offensively where they slacked the first two games of this series.
Chuck James is only a slight notch behind Kazmir and the other good young lefties in the league (with the possible exception of FL), and they would all be pretty clear favorites in this spot. No reason he shouldn't be as well.
Just two pitchers moving in different directions here. After a fantastic start to the season, Glavine has been extremely hittable lately. He appeared fatigued last time out as the Cubs rocked him at Shea. On the other hand, James has been very difficult for opposing teams the first couple times through the lineup, and the pen is certainly improving. I think this will be a 7-3 type affair.
1* Cardinals -122 (Carpenter/Zambrano)
Yes, I know the Cubs have won 6 in a row against the Cards and the Cardinals are 0-9 in Chicago this season. Thanks for asking.
The Cardinals patient lineup is the perfect remedy for Zambrano, and I honestly don't think the Cubs will score on Carpenter - they were lost the last time he pitched here, and I'm expecting a repeat performance as the Cards avoid the ultimate embarrassment of a 4-game sweep by the lowly Cubs.
Small personal play:
Bonderman/Santana Under 8 and Tigers Team Total under 3.5 at +odds
Thanks and good luck. I will be travelling all day, so I won't be able to check in, but I wish each and every one of you that takes time to read this thread the very best.
