          Six Pack for Sunday

-- Orioles had 22 hits Saturday, led 3-0 in fifth inning, then scored nine runs in another inning, and still lost 13-12.

-- Julio Lugo had two homers in fifth inning alone; will be a very difficult thing for DRays if they trade him this month, since he is team leader and his brother is a Tampa reliever.

-- Tampa pitchers threw 56 pitches, just in seventh inning.

-- Braves-Phillies got rained out Saturday, which pushes back Brett Myers' start to tonght, which means ESPN will spend lot of time talking about his off-field issues, which involve marital problems and domestic violence.

-- Jeff Weaver pitched very well Saturday, beating his old team, the Dodgers, who are in a major freefall.

-- Imagine what the media onslaught will be if Barry Bonds is playing in the playoffs this fall? It could happen.

            List of 13 - Sunday

            13) Marcus Jordan is lefty, wears glasses, a headband and a very nice pair of Nikes. He reminds me of Willie Deane, who once led Big 11 in scoring at Purdue. Very good player, but still quite young. Must be hard being Michael Jordan's son.

            12) Young Jordan got knocked to floor on drives three times in first half; at one point, his glasses broke, so he played with no glasses. Two friends of his at courtside were asking him how many fingers they had up; he was laughing-- seems like a nice kid

            11) Philadelphia Red Storm, our favorite AAU team, put up a couple of wins Saturday, after losing twice Friday; they beat teams from Tulsa and Florida to move to the final eight of the Bronze Bracket, which concludes Sunday.

            10) They use three officials a game down here; for most part, games are well-run, but not as well as when the 17s come in Monday, because then, refs pay to come down and work, so their work is videotaped and scrutinized by supervisors, as part of an officiating clinic.

            9) Must be nice running a tournament where teams pay $600 or so to play, and the referees pay to work.

            8) Watched game at Cypress Creek High School; in '02, they had pretty good player named Amare Stoudemire; the weird thing is, the year before Amare won Rookie of Year in NBA, his high school team was only 15-15. Go figure.

            7) Coldest gym I've ever been in; there is sign over door as you walk in the gym: "The coldest winter day you'll ever see is a summer day in the Cypress Creek gym". Its dark too, but its a great gym, nice and big. Strange how it is so cold, dark.

            6) The first of the D-I college coaches rolled into town, with most of them still out in Vegas. Monday and Tuesday, with the older kids starting to play, we'll see them all courtside.

            5) Guys who were watching 16's play are coaches whose club has their '07 recruiting done and starting to look at kids in the '08 class. UAlbany's Will Brown was on recruiting trail, fresh off an America East championship and near-upset of UConn in NCAA tournament.

            4) Not sure kids realize what impresses college coaches; it is not breaking guys' ankles with crossovers, or going for steal on every possession. College coaches have to win to keep their jobs; they need players they can depend on, who have a consistency to their game. Kids who makes teammates better.

            3) That said, as much as coaches preach selflessness, if kid is not big scorer, he's going to get short end of the stick- its just the way it is. You have to show that you are a scoring threat, at the very least.

            2) Friday, one kid whacked an opponent in head with a closed fist, which refs didn't see; turns out the kid broke his hand.

            1) Bottom line on these game is this: You must be able to hold your own rebounding, and you really need a point guard who can get ball over halfcourt, then get his team into an offense. You have those two things, and couple kids who can make shots, then you can compete at this national level.

You guys are sure welcome! Truly, though, all credit goes to Spark and pm. I'm just another guy who relies on this info every day. Helps a lot, doesn't it? I just occasionally throw the info out if I see it's available and Spark hasn't had time to do it yet. I don't even know where to get the Dunkel! LOL! Good luck today, guys!
