Actually I think he had half of round 6 but it was closer than it should have been.....Im not that impressed with Green either.....wasnt really a match though
he got knocked down, and came back to KO his opponent.........I certainly don't know boxing as you and your friend do, but I find his "Speed", hand movement, Jabs, KO punch a lil more than adequate.........
He is rated #9 by WBO, and most Boxing Sites rate him as a contender, with better than average speed.......I think he's a lil too cocky for me......but the bastage is good......kapt
Kapt. ...he is a serious contender if handled properly..(the WBO is not a great indicator, but this kid is on the right track for sure)..He reminds me of Donald Curry (Motor City Cobra).....He certainly has skills to pay the bills.....He is long for this weight class which is good....he has a great jab......He swings for the fences, which is ok against a straight ahead guy like bonsante, but against a good counterpuncher he will pay for that.....But i like him alot.....in terms of talent....Nice left hook off the straight right.....pinpoint accuracy.....Nice speed....hard to tell how much speed since bonsante is a plodder..(Most of those contender fighters are C fighters at best)..Great Call Kapt!!

Not impressed??? Are you kidding??? the kid has only been a pro for 3 years....he has it all.....size, speed and length....As long as he works his angles and prevents guys from smothering him....the sky is the limit.....
I do not see the holes in his game that you do??? Please explain

Maybe since Bonsante was so weak....I defintely cant pick a fighter the way you did but when I say I am not impressed I meant that he didnt 'WOW' me
I used to get a funny feeling watching for instance Roy Jones in his prime. He did beat the shit outta this Bonsante but can he do really win a title? I dont really follow boxing that close.

i hear ya.....that has a lot to do with it.....He dismantled bonsante in a very methodical fashion and it is hard to gauge when fighting that type of opponent...Roy Jones was something very very very special and I do not think this kid will be like that.....but he certainly has promise....
He did not wow me, but there were several things that stood out....He has good angles (which means in laymen terms...he does not stand in front of his opponent ....like bonsante...., he punches in good combinations.....he worked the body when he hurt bonsante....alot of lesser boxers would continue to head hunt, but the body is the key to dropping a guys hands....he has a nice tight left hook....meaning it can be fired in a short motion....and he has a long left hook as well....he also punches very well right down the pike...which means he is a straight puncher.....So in my estimation he has a lot of tools.....but like you said he was fighting bonsante...How much of a test really was it??? But that is the maturation process of molding a fighter.....His next fight is against Jeff "Left Hook" Lacy who is coming off his first loss....This is one you may want to watch......He will not be the tomato can that Bonsante was.....Skills beat toughness almost always
Kapt- you are hooked- I can read by this thread- you are hooked- with TTTony (and there are few better that reads the man) in your corner- ooh I and Chuck and many more will tune in. Nice call
"The range of what we think and do is limited by what we fail to notice.
heres a few quotes from the boxing experts there last night.........
.....Green cruises to a five round win by TKO..........
.....exploiting his 5" height advantage, the 6' 2" Green pitched a shut out.............
......Bosante was cut below his right eye........
......the right side of his ace was badly swollen............
......the height discrepancy and the "Blazing" hand speed resulted in a mismatch..........
.......he'el probably fight former Super Middleweight Champion Jeff Lacy next........
.......his trainer is John David Jackson, who has trained world champions Sugar Shane Mosely and Bernard Hopkins...........
....he would have no problems dropping to 160 #'s and challenge Taylor for the middle weight crown.........
I agree with Two Ton, he fought a plodder, but you fight the style they come in with......He can dance, sting, jab, hook and power punch quite well........He is young---needs work, but could be a good contender......next fight will tell a lot.....
2:37 of the fifth round fight stopped......we cut it close, with just 113 seconds to play with, but it came in for us........
Thanks for the input and support fellows.........kapt

Kaptain-
You hit on a very very important issue in boxing and it sums up everything:
Styles make fights......Certain guys may look marvelous against other guys and for some reason when they fight other guys its a mess....Many times this happens with a southpaw or someone who is awkward.......The key to fighting a southpaw is to step to the outside of his front foot (his right one) and deliver straight rights....It is almost fruitless to jab with a southpaw.....and your feet get all tangled up......It is a mess....I fought 2 southpaw...i won, but it was UGLY UGLY UGLY.....felt like nothing was clean at all.....
here is an example...about 4 years ago mosley was what mayweather is now....the best pound for pound guy and he took a fight against a guy named vernon forrest (a relative unknown).. it was billed as a retribution fight....since forrest beat him 10 years ago in the amateurs....What would be the harm? nobody had been able to beat shane...not de la hoya....not anybody.....Well vernon forrest shalacked him and mosley tasted the canvas for the first time......he lost BIG time.....So they had a rematch...had to be a fluke, right??? NOPE....forest owned him.....It was his style....To prove it Forest went on to fight Ricardo Mayorga and was annihilated, not once, but twice.....
And last night a guy like Bonsante is taylored made for Green....Slow footed, average hand speed and poor poor head movement....He also made a deadly mistake....never retreat straight back, either grab or step to the side.....Bonsante was figthing at a distance....a short man should never fight at a distance.....He would work so hard to get inside (eat punches) only to step back and give up that real estate ( it would be like having your troops fight hard to get a piece of land in war and then just go back down the hill just to do it again)....small guys need to get inside and stay there......not retreat....
Sorry for the diatribe guys, but green has potential....I do not see him (at this juncture) fighting taylor....taylor would school him....Green has holes and taylor would find them for sure.....He is much better suited to fight left hook lacy who is coming off a loss.....
Great find Kaptain....this guy slipped fromm under my radar....I generally do not follow mid-western fighters...many times their records are inflated against weak opponents and when they fight east coast, eastern-european or city guys they are outmatched....This however, was not the case....
Thanks for the heads up and an entertaining bout!!!
Two Ton---thanks for the write up and response........The fact he's local, I'll keep you informed of his plans, sparring, potential/possible injuries, attitude........
He does have a ways to go, but he's got the tools and a good trainer.....Time will tell.......You're right, he's far away from the Likes of Taylor, and Lacy may just put a number on him......should be a good one, depends on Greens cocky attitude and training....thanks.kapt

Another good example is Ali vs Ken Norton. Norton had Ali's number. Although, Norton lost 2 of 3 fights to Ali some feel Norton won all 3 fights.
