  • 1great Total Play

after a dismal 1-5 day yesterday, ive decided too look for 1 game and go with it.
    washington & florida over 8.
here's the numbers. 8 of last 10 games between these 2 teams have gone over. last time o'connor faced florida he lost 18-9. he hasn't pitched since & that was 13 days ago. he's rested & should be wild. he's 0-1 with an era of 45.00 & a whip of 5.000 vs florida. willis has an era of 3.03 vs washington. this game should be over the total before the end of the 5th inning.
    good luck cappers.

DD. I can't tell if you think Willis will give up runs or not, since you said his ERA is only 3.03 vs. Washington. Overall, he is pitching well his last three starts with an ERA of 2.53 his last three starts. My point is why don't you just play Florida OVER 4 instead of banking on Washington to score 4 runs off of Willis. Whatever you decide, good luck.

i live in vegas, we dont have 1 side totals out here, i have too take the whole game as a total. if u can bet the marlins as a 4 run over, go for it. i do think the nationals will get at least 2 or 3 off willis, & if they go to the pen even more.

David- I have to agree with Sandman- yet I understand where you are coming from- I also can tell you we had an even better scenario for an over in the Wash game last night and it failed. I and a few others felt the total was to low at 9- where did they get 9 for a total? I implore you to reconsider - The trap is possibly ready to swing open again. Atlanta has been a great over- it is more likely to happen there than with Fla/Wash. I would consider the 5 inning line as he will be in the game at that time or may get yanked early who knows. I wish ya the best and will be rooting.

I apologize for being pessimistic in your thread David- The fact that Oconnor has had a few bad outings does not mean he will pitch as such today. I believe Vegas sees what I am saying and put the total at a low spot- of course anytime Willis is pitching- 1-2-3 runs at best. So many times -we want to go all in on such a play when the opposing pitcher is perceived out of control. It may be more prudent not to esdpecially if he has the history to pitch well.. I consider you a friend and you are a good capper. I believe Oconnor can pitch and is not a meatball like his last experiences dictated. He gave up 5 earned runs in 1 inning and 5 earned runs in 5 innings in the last two games- it was the bull pen that had the game going ballistic the last two games. Before then he was pitching quite well. Good Luck

Since i m looking past the numbers- and seeing that Oconnor was recalled. How did he do in the minors-New Orleans Zephers.

Mike O'Connor, making his first start for the Zephyrs since being sent down from the Washington Nationals, allowed three runs and five hits in five innings to pick up the win on the 9th and move to 1-0. He has a 3.04 ERA with 25 SO and 10 BB. But - he has 2 HBP in the 23 innings he has pitched and he has 8ER and 21 hits against him.

Not very impressive lately as you surmised- I figure that Wash. is crying for arms and that a step down was to give him confidence once again- He appears to have decent control with a good BB/SO and today he faces the team that practically washed him out of the big leagues- how will he respond?

I am addicted to this game- uh thread.

                    Scouting Report:
O'Connor will face the Marlins for the second time this season. On July 5, O'Connor didn't get to finish the second inning against Florida, who won the game, 18-9. Manager Frank Robinson took him out early and O'Connor, surprised by the move, walked toward the dugout very slowly, then sat on the bench looking dazed as Ramon Ortiz and Damian Jackson tried to console him.

Effective in seven strong innings against the Astros, allowing one run, Willis was not involved in the decision in his last start. The D-Train has won two straight decisions, and is 5-1 with two no-decisions in his last eight starts. Willis faces the Nationals for the second time this season. On April 14, he logged 5 2/3 innings and picked up the win in Miami.
