Well, things went pretty well for about 1.5 hours yesterday. Then a solo HR, a couple bloops, and the bullpen's complete collapse (11 runs in 3.2 IP?!?!) makes for a blowout loss.
Baseball Plays (49-48, +6.44*)
Colorado Rockies +125 (Jennings/Harang)
Two really good pitchers here. I'll take the team that is better against RHP and has the better bullpen.
The Reds haven't been good at home; they are actually under .500. Coincidentally - or not - Harang has been much better away from home. Despite a 3.71 ERA, his home ERA is 5.40.
Jennings, on the other hand, has been on fire. He's gone at least 7 IP in his last five starts, and has only given up 5 TOTAL earned runs in those 37 innings. His road ERA is 3.89, which is only slightly worse than his overall ERA. He throws sinkers, and keeps the ball down in the zone, resulting in a lot of ground balls, which is good in a hitter's park.
Minnesota Twins -118 (Radke/Byrd)
Well, the Twins are the best home team in the league, currently 30-10 with tonight's result in the air. The average score is 5.9-4.1, and at night it's 6.0-3.8. Meanwhile, Cleveland is 17-24 away from home.
Radke was on fire until Kansas City beat him up last time out. Even with that, his ERA last five starts is 2.61. The same can be said of Byrd, but he has been getting hit hard, even when he wasn't giving up runs. His last start he gave up 10 hits and 9 runs (only 4 earned) in 3.2 IP, but the time before that he gave up 9 hits in 6.0 IP, but no runs.
Strong bullpen advantage to Minnesota, and I can't pass up this price, considering the Twins are 19-3 in this situation (vs. RHSP in a home night game) this season.
Good luck everyone!
