  • First Half of Baseball Season Opinion

Name the most surprising things which have happened so far in your eyes;it could be teams or players.
For me I would have to say seeing Detroit on first place with the best record in baseball would be up there along with seeing the Red Sox in first place with loss of Damon along with the emergence of Papelbon. Also, the Mets as a runaway in their division is also surprising.
On a negative note I would say I am very surprised that Cleveland and Atlanta have fallen so far.

Detroit playing so well. Cubs playing so bad. Atlanta playing bad. Florida playing well after the offseason they had. How close the NL West and AL West are from top to bottom.

i think the biggest surprise is Detroits fast rise to the top

Dan Uggla from rule 5 to all-star

          Paplebon as a dominant closer

          Arroyo as an all-star

          Nomar hitting .360ish

          Mauer hitting over .360ish

The amount of 25 year old and younger pitchers who are dominating.
              Records:

              NCAA Hoops (38-34-2, +4.59*)
              NFL Sides (34-25, +12.15*)
              NFL Totals (18-14-1, +8.23*)
              NCAA Foots Plays (65-48-4, +21.47*)
              NBA Plays (4-1-0, +5.92*)

I would have to agree with a few that said Detroit ...

also it does not surprise me about the Cubs doing so bad ... But it does surprise me a little that they made absolutely no moves to better their club ...

Everyones answer should be Detroit.. They have looked very very good SO FAR.. The 2nd half of the season will tell if the 1st half was real or just a fairy tale for the Tigers.. Also like most people said the Braves downfall so quickly.. I picked them to finish 2nd in their division behind the Mets but i thought that it would be alot closer than they are right now.. The braves however are kinda starting to gel.. Just like Detroit the 2nd half is the big key to their success.. Also best reliever award IMO goes to Pap hands down.. And another surprise to me and NO IM NOT BEING A HOMER is with all the injuries that the Yanks have had and still only to be sitting just 3 games back of Boston in their division..

Jason Marquis 11 wins with a 5.55 era..... this guy does not deserve to be a 20 game winner.

good comment about the Yanks....I thought about it and then did not put it because i always know the Yanks do not make excuses...they just get stuff done....I never underestimate them.....regardless....

Another big Surprise is TMAC admitting a red sox player is good.....Paplebon!!!

I know for a fact that Yanks record wouldnt be better with Sheff and Matsui.......maybe if they had some of their pitchers but in baseball you dont need 9 ALL STARS to win.......just a couple of on base guys and a couple of sluggers and some decent role players.

Bullpen is a must and some good D.......hitting isnt that necessary to excel in baseball

                            PEACE

i happen to disagree....those are 2 big big bats that happen to come through in the clutch....i would imagine they would be worth 3 games alone......JMHO
